박물관교육방법으로서의 ‘해설’에 대한 교육학적 논의

국문 초록

근대적 박물관이 탄생한 이후로 해설을 통해 전시내용을 전달하는 방식은 박물관교육방법의 핵심으로 자리매김하였다. 그러나 문제의 핵심은 해설이 일방적인 내용의 전달이 대부분이라는 사실이다. 우리나라의 경우도 다르지 않아 박물관에서의 해설문화는 전시내용을 효과적으로 전달하는데 초점을 두고 있는데 이는 통계수치로나 도슨트의 경험을 통해 입증되고 있다. 해설이 설명이 그치는 것이 아니라 해석에 이어지며 이 해석이 일방적인 해석이 아니라 해석학적 순환에 의해 관람객의 열린 해석으로 이어질 때 교육학적으로 해설은 커다란 의미를 가지게 된다. 해설문화의 패러다임의 변화는 작게는 도슨트의 해석학적 상상력을 강화시키는 역량의 변화를 통해 크게는 박물관의 탈근대성로의 변화를 통해 다양한 해석이 가능한 박물관을 구성하는 것이다.

영문 초록

Ever since the modern museum was created, the method to deliver its articles on exhibition through explanation has been settled as a key method of museum education. However, there is some problem that this explanation is mostly consisted of a one-way delivery about the exhibiting contents. The case in Korea is not different from this general practice. The culture of explanation in the museum focused on communicating its articles on exhibition effectively, which has been proved by statistical data or by the experience of the docents. Explanation should be more than just interpretation, but it should be linked with another interpretation. This kind of chain interpretation is not one-way explanation but has a hermeneutic circle, which can be continued by free interpretation of the public. The paradigm shift in the culture of explanation can be achieved through strengthening hermeneutic imagination of the docents and through the separation from the modernity of the museum. Then, it is possible to achieve diversity of interpretation in the museum.
