국문 초록

포스터모더니즘의 발흥시기를 1940～50년대로 보지만 전 세계적으로 논의가 활발하게 진행된 것은 1970～80년대로 보고 있다. 모더니즘을 이어받은 징후로 보기도 하고 그것과 구별되는 경향으로 보기도 한다. 따라서 모더니즘을 논한 다음에 포스터모더니즘을 살펴볼 수밖에 없다. 모더니즘의 근원을 계몽주의에 두는 것은 사물을 합리성에서만 보는 세계관에 반발해서 나타난 경향이기 때문이다. 모더니즘은 도시성과 산업사회와 근친 관계를 갖고 있다면, 포스트모더니즘은 그에 더해서 미래에 대한 비전과 아방가드 정신에 더 투철한 것 같다. 모더니즘도 과감한 변화를 추구하는 것이 사실이지만, 그 비평의 눈은 텍스트적이지만 포스트모더니즘은 공 텍스트적이다. 특히 포스트모더니즘은 인터넷 문화와 보다 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다. 포스트모더니즘의 작가들은 언어적 실험을 과감하게 수행하고 있다. 그런 관점에서 말한다면 포스트모더니즘은 제임스 조이스에까지 거슬러 올라갈 수 있고, 그 이후 과감한 언어적 실험을 한 작가들도 포스트모더니즘의 계열의 작가로 취급할 수 있다. 한국에서도 이인성이나 최수철 같은 작가를 포스터모더니즘의 경향을 갖고 있는 작가라고 할 수 있다. 한국문학에서는 최근에 나타나고 있는 문학의 대중화 경향을 포스터모더니즘의 한 특성으로 지적할 수 있다. 수많은 시인이나 수필가들이 문단에 데뷔해서 문학 활동을 하고 있지만 이들은 서로 아는 사람의 작품을 읽으면서 문학 행위를 즐기는 것이다. 이것은 1960～70년대 스타 문인 시대와는 판이하게 다른 양상이다. 포스트모던 시대에는 소설 대신에 수필이 문학 장르의 왕자로서 군림할 것으로 보인다. 최근에 인터넷 매체를 통하여 인기 있는 작가로 부각되고 있지만 기성의 문단에서는 이들에 대해 전혀 주목하지 않는다. 하지만 젊은 세대들에게는 열광적인 환영을 받고 있다. 인터넷 문학의 시대에는 활자 문학의 시대와는 다른 양상으로 문학 활동이 전개될 것이다.

영문 초록

It seems to me that the word of Postmodernism was appeared through 1940～50, but practically was discussed and popularized through 1970～80 over the world. Some scholar argues that it follows Modernism, other denied it, rather it opposes the main trend. Therefore Postmodernism should be examined after Modernism. Modernism originated from Ratio- nalism of Renaissance period. It was widely recognized that Modernism was related with urbanity and industrialism. Postmodernism is viewed more closely related with vision future and avant_garde spirit. Modernism avows the change is needed in its intention and examined according the text, however Post- modernism viewed every work from point of inter_text. Especially Post- modernism is closely related with the internet culture. The writers of Postmodernism often practice a radical linguistic exper- iment. James Joyce was one of frontier in the practice. Lee In-seong and Choi Su-cheol could be chosen in this line of writers in Korea. The recent trend of mass literary inclination could be pointed as one of Postmodernism phenomena. A great deal of poets and essayist are debuted in the various literary magazine and they incline to read their close friends works each other and enjoy their way of literary act. This kind of trend is different from former period 1960～70 which a few star writers were popularly read and noticed. In the Postmodern period essays of non_star writers are anticipated to permeate in the popular readership. The recent appeared popular writers as such Giyuni and etc are almost disregarded by established literary circle, but they are enthusiastically welcomed by some of young generations. It is anticipated that literary act using internet media instead of print develops quite a different aspect in the coming 21 century.
