국문 초록

영상시대에 대중적 관심과 흥미의 원천은 대부분 시각 매체나 시각적 감각과 관련된다. 영상이미지는 새로운 의사소통 매체로 부상하면서 언어의 개념을 바꿔놓는다. 영화는 영상시대를 주도하는 이 시대의 문화적 표상이다. 영화의 성장과 발전에 소설의 기여는 결정적이었다. 최근의 영화 텍스트의 소설 출판 경향은 두 장르간 새로운 관계 양상을 보여준다. 농후한 상업성과 조악한 문학성의 문제를 노정함에도 영화의 소설화는 두 장르간 또다른 소통 가능성을 제시하면서 영역별 새로운 모색이라는 점에서도 관심을 갖는다. 문화의 소비와 향유가 문제되는 대중사회에서 소설의 영화화는 여전히 영화라는 대중적 매체를 통해 소설과 대중이 만나는 유효한 통로로 기능한다. 문학이 문자라는 제한된 매체를 벗어나 다양한 매체로 전이되거나 그것들과 결합하면서 대중과의 소통 공간을 확장시키고 찾아야 하는 것은 문학이 안고 있는 또다른 과제이다.

영문 초록

This thesis is a study on the relationship of the novel and the film. Recently, one of distinguishing features in the novel is that the film were frequently appeared as a motif or an essential material for the novel. These features prove that the novel and the film were overturned their roles in which they had provided essential motifs each other, or under- went to equal positions. Now the film is a new stimulus and an essential nutriment for the novel. The use of film as a motif or subject matter in the contemporary novel presents that the two genres becomes a crucial participant to take a part in a story-telling mutually. And a filmized of novel do not signify only the transference from one media to other media. A filmized of novel will inevitably become a different artistic entity from the original. Furthermore, fulfilling the wishes and tastes of the masses, it afford an opportunity of experience novel with easy and with interest. The filmized of novel can safisfy the popular’s desire, and can fill up complements that the novel itself is apt to lack. Eventually the filmized text provides the way which get intimate with novel for the popular.
