정신지체인의 결혼관에 대한 사례분석 - 재가 미혼 성인 장애인을 중심으로

국문 초록

  본 연구는 중장년기에 있는 재가 미혼 성인 정신지체인의 결혼관을 탐색하기 위하여 실시되었다. 연구참여자는 서울 외곽에 위치한 직업재활시설을 이용하는 정신지체 여성 1명과 남성 5명이었다. 참여관찰과 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였고, 자료는 Glasser와 Strauss의 코딩방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구의 타당성 및 진실성 확보를 위하여 삼각검증법, 구성원간 검토, 그리고 동료연구자간 협의를 거쳤다. 자료 분석을 통해 밝혀진 연구참여자들의 결혼에 대한 인식은 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 억눌린 욕구의 이중변주곡: 본능과 이성의 분열. 둘째, 무지의 어두움: 결혼 및 성에 대한 지식의 모호함과 부재, 셋째, 올바른 이성관계의 잣대: 성도덕 구축. 넷째, 외로움의 여러 얼굴들: 복잡한 정서의 분출. 마지막으로, 육화된 외로움: 일그러진 표정, 비우호적인 말, 위축된 행동. 이러한 결과를 토대로 청소년기에 있는 정신지체의 성적 삶을 지원해 주고자 할 때 부모와 전문가를 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to explore the perspectives of marriage of unmarried adults with mental disabilities living with their family. One woman and five men in their thirties and forties working in a Work Activity Center located on the outskirts of Seoul were participated. Data were collected through participant observations and in-depth interviews and were analyzed by using the method of Glasser & Strauss. To achieve validity or authenticity of the study, triangulation, members check, and peer cross checking were carried. The results were as follows: (1) duo-variations on oppressed desire: a split between instinct and reason; (2) dark of innocence: vague or absent knowledge about marriage and sexuality; (3) a measure of loyalty toward loved one: establishment of sexual ethics; (4) several faces of loneliness: eruption of complex feelings; (5) an incarnate loneliness: frown, unfriendly talk, and daunted behavior. Some suggestions were presented for parents and professionals who make every effort to work for the youth with mental disabilities.
