국문 초록

디자인은 인간의 삶과 지대한 관계를 가지고 있다. 현대의 디자인은 이전의 디자인의 가치에 비해 그 질적 가치를 확대할 수 있다. 이러한 기대적 상황은 디자인교육의 질적 변환을 요구하게 된다. 디자인교육의 질적 변환은 학습자의 '앎'의 사고를 통한 디자인교육의 접근이다. 그 동안의 디자인교육은 인식체계에 있어 질적인 것보다는 생산적이라 볼 수 있으며 미래의 소비자인 학습자의 사고를 반영한 것이라 보기 어렵다. 이는 학습자가 소비자시대의 삶에서 디자인을 향수(享受)하고 누릴 수 있어야하는 인식전환이 필요하다. 이러한 인식전환을 학습자중심의 디자인교육의 실천에서 바람직하게 접근할 수 있다. 학습자 중심의 디자인교육은 유지적 교육이기보다는 혁신적인 교육으로 디자인 활동 안에서 학습자가 각기 다르게 십인십색(十人十色)으로 디자인을 알아 가는 성찰의 과정이다. 이 성찰(省察)의 과정은 학습자가 능동적으로 문제를 제기하고 그에 대한 시도와 해결을 통한 각자의 발견이 이루어질 수 있어야 하는 것이다. 이는 디자인교육이 디자이너의 생산적 위치에 있거나 대다수의 대중으로 그것을 소비하는 소비자의 입장에 있더라도 양자에게 중요한 과정이며 디자인 교육의 기초적 기반이 될 것이다. 초등학교 디자인교육은 디자인을 좀더 구체적으로 배움의 기회로 만나는 첫 기회임을 상기하고 문제중심 디자인 활동의 기본방향을 제시함으로서 규정적 지식으로 디자인교육에 접근하기보다는 어린이가 디자인 활동과정에서 스스로 디자인의 문제를 제기하는 과정이 될 수 있도록 해야 하는 것이다. 그러므로 문제중심 디자인교육방안은 소비자시대에 삶과 함께 공유할 디자인을 위하여 의미 있는 시도로서 가치를 지니며 현 디자인교육의 문제점을 축소·극복하는 데 접근할 수 있을 것이다. 주요어 : 소비자, 향수자, 다각적 사고, 문제해결, 문제중심학습(Problem-Based Learning:PBL), 자기주도학습(Self-Directed Learning:SDL), 문제중심의 디자인학습(Problem-Based Design Learning:PBDL)

영문 초록

If the 18th century is seen as the age when it met quantity change through the industrial revolution also dubbed design revolution, the modern time is seen as entering an age when it has to respond to requirements for quality change. The modern time is the age that consumers seek their own unique lives and perception of things and raise their voices thus leaving producers to succumb to them. This compares to old times that consumers turned down their voices and depended on the producers that conducted mass-production. The field design education in the fine art education, undeniably, still focuses on the previous producers-oriented education for designers and design. Now is the time for teachers to have to seriously change their perception of design education on top of their self-examination. Design education should be conducted to allow learners to attempt to understand and discover design on their own through self-examination. Education should be shunned for the sake of design itself. Thus, the education should foster learners (future members of the society) to enjoy and practice design in the society in the future. In the future age of consumers, it will change according to the lives of consumers. The design, hence, when reflecting corresponding consumers' needs, will remain vital. The modern design geared towards changing seeks to form a consensus among producers and consumers and renew itself further. Thus, the modern design education emphasizes that learners have to be able to seek construction in their live rather than seek construction as knowledge. Design education should allow learners to approach design through their own meaning in life and to find problems in life. This enables learners to opt to achieve profound selection through self-examination helped by desirable aesthetic eye in the society and culture that they are supposed to enjoy. This research sought to indicate that design education place superiority on the position of consumers in response to the times' requirements, and to address problems in the field design education by embracing problem-based learning design measures.
