영문 초록

This thesis categorizes and describes a few characteristics of Vietnamese literature from the point of view of a researcher of Korean literature. The fact that speaking, listening and reading were developed as methods of enjoying literature, the fact that there is not a large quantity of Vietnamese language literature, and the facts that the lower class could not easily participate in recorded literature and there was no prominent participation in recorded literature by women, were related to the fact that it is difficult to learn and master the phonetic writing system of chu nom. We examined the fact that works of poetic literature outnumbered those of prose literature in cases where it would not normally be expected that the work be rendered in the poetic form, such as sutra translations and novels. The 7·7·6·8 form and 6·8 form, derived from the folk song, are the most suited for absorbing medieval culture and broad propagation, so the predominance of poetry was understood as an aspect of the task of absorbing East Asian culture and raising it to the level of a national literature in accordance with the particular conditions of the Vietnamese situation. Sino- Korean literature clearly has the characteristic of instilling a nationally independent spirit, and yet it was discovered that it is also characterized by a lesser interest in poetics. The development of the poetic form of duong luat chu nom poetry (poetry written in chu nom that foIlows the rules of versification in Chinese geunche poetry) shook the monopolistic position of Chinese poetry. It was postulated that perhaps it was related to the tendencies of Sino-Korean literature, which sought to develop in close adherence with the lives of the people, rather than aesthetic demands. In terms of genre, prominent development was seen in drama, and importance was placed on ardent expression of emotions, with a corresponding aesthetic sense. The form of drama adapted from China was joined with the characteristic Vietnamese mode of expression and aesthetic sense, creating a new form with a unique appearance.
