유치원 교실에서 유아의 인공지능 활용 경험과 의미

국문 초록

본 연구는 유치원 교실에서 유아의 인공지능 활용 경험과 의미를 알아보고, 유아교육현장에서 효과적인 인공지능 활용 방안에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2024년 5월부터 8월까지 경기도 G시에 위치한 유치원 만 5세반 17명의 유아를 대상으로 인공지능 어플리케이션 활용 경험 자료를수집하였다. 연구자가 교실에서 인공지능 어플리케이션을 활용한 활동과 놀이를 진행하며 참여관찰하였고, 현장관찰기록, 녹화 및 녹음자료, 면담자료, 연구자 저널, 유아 그림분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유치원 교실에서 유아들은 ‘신기하고 웃긴 인공지능’, ‘내가 스스로 해보고 싶은 인공지능’, ‘또래 간 상호작용을 통해 배우는 인공지능’, ‘기다리고, 기다려야 하는 인공지능’, ‘내 생각처럼 잘 안되는 인공지능’을 경험하였다. 둘째, 유치원 교실에서 유아의 인공지능 활용 경험은 ‘인공지능을 활용한 놀이 경험 확장과 배움의 기회 제공’, ‘인공지능의 한계와 교육적 활용을 위한 고민 필요’, ‘올바른 인공지능 활용을 위한 인공지능 윤리교육 강화’의 의미를 찾을 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를통해 본 연구는 유아교육기관에서 인공지능 활용을 위한 시사점을 제공하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study explored children's experiences of the use of artificial intelligence(AI) in kindergarten classrooms. It identified implications for effective ways of using AI in early childhood education. For this purpose, data were collected from 17 children in a class of 5-year-old at a kindergarten located in G-si, Gyeonggi-do from May to August 2024. The researcher conducted participant observations of activities and play using AI applications in the classroom. The researcher also collected field observation records, video and audio recordings, interview data, researcher journals, and conducted an analysis of children's drawings. The study results were as follows. Children described AI as ‘a new and funny AI’, ‘an AI that I want to try out myself’, ‘an AI that I can learn from through peer interaction’, ‘an AI that takes a long time to respond’, and ‘an AI that doesn’t work as well as I thought’. Young children’s experience of using AI in their kindergarten classrooms identified the following meanings: ‘providing opportunities for learning and expanding play experiences using AI’, ‘needing to consider the limitations of AI and its educational use’, and ‘strengthening AI ethics education for proper use of AI’. This study’s results are significant in that they can provide implications for the use of AI in early childhood education.
