초등학교 입학 관련 그림책의 내용분석: 유·초 연계를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교 입학 관련 그림책을 내용분석함으로써 유아의 초등학교 진입과 적응에 도움이 될 그림책의 가치를 발견하는 것이다. 이를 위해 총 50권의 국내서와 번역서를 연구대상으로 선정하고, 선행연구를 토대로 분석기준을 설정하여 장면(scene)별 글과 그림을 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 그림책에는 아동이 초등학교에 입학하면서 겪는 정서․행동 및 학습활동 적응 과정이 자세히 묘사되고 있다. 둘째, 그림책은 아동이 학교에 입학하며 경험하는 사회적 지원과 갈등을 세밀하게 보여준다. 셋째, 그림책에는 초등학교의 물리적 환경이 장면의 배경으로 자연스럽게 묘사되고, 특히 국내서와 번역서 간의 다양한 문화 차이가 나타난다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 입학 주제의 그림책이유․초 연계 교육의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있음을 보여주며, 유․초등 교육현장에서 교수 매체로서 그림책의 교육적 가능성을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the content of picture books used to determine elementary school entrance and identified their value in support of children’s transition and their adaptation to elementary school. For this purpose, 50 domestically published and translated picture books were selected as the research subjects. Drawing on a review of previous studies, analytical criteria were established, and both textual and visual elements were examined for each scene. The findings were as follows: First, picture books provided nuanced depictions of children’s emotional and behavioral adjustment, as well as their adaptation to academic activities, as they transition into elementary school. Second, they intricately portrayed the social support and conflicts that children encounter in the transition to school life. Third, they naturally depicted the physical environment of elementary schools as a background in the scenes and particularly highlighted the various cultural differences between domestic and translated picture books. These findings suggest that picture books on the theme of entrance to elementary school can serve as foundational materials for the transition from kindergarten to elementary school. Furthermore, they demonstrated the educational potential of picture books as instructional media in Kindergarten and elementary education settings.
