5세 유아의 미디어 이용 시간에 따른 수용어휘력과 표현어휘력 차이 분석: 한국아동패널 6차년도 자료를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 미디어 이용 시간에 따라 수용어휘력과 표현어휘력 발달에 차이가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 육아정책연구소 주관으로 전국적으로 수집된 한국아동패널 6차 패널 데이터 2,150개 중 일상활동 중 전자매체를 이용한 교육시간 및 놀이시간과 수용어휘력 및 표현어휘력 발달 검사에 대해 모두 응답 한 412개의 데이터를 활용하여 분석하였다. 본 패널 데이터는 김영태, 홍경훈, 김경희, 이주연(2009)이 개발한 수용․표현어휘력 검사를 연구도구로 활용하였으며, 수집된 자료는SPSS 29.0 프로그램을 활용하여 기술통계, 동질성 검증, 크루스칼 왈리스 검정, 본페로니 사후검증을단계적으로 실시하였다. 연구 결과 미디어 이용 시간과 수용어휘력은 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 나타났으며 표현어휘력은 유의하지 않은 관계가 나타났다. 특히, 미디어 이용 시간 집단 간 수용어휘력 및표현어휘력 발달 모두 집단 간 차이는 유의하지 않았다. 이는 디지털 미디어 이용 시간에 따른 어휘력발달에 더 세부적인 연구가 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 미디어 이용 시간에 따라 유아의 수용어휘력과 표현어휘력 차이를 알아봄으로써 미디어 이용 시간에 미치는 유아의 수용어휘력과 표현어휘력연구에 대한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed differences in the development of receptive and expressive vocabulary in relation to the amount of time children spend using media. We analyzed data from the 6th round of the Korean Children’s Panel, collected nationwide by the Childcare Policy Research Institute. The data included responses from 412 out of 2,150 children, who provided information on their daily educational and play time activities involving electronic media, as well as on their receptive and expressive vocabulary development tests. This panel data used the receptive and expressive vocabulary test developed by Kim, Young-tae; Hong, Kyung-hoon; Kim, Kyung-hee; and Lee, Joo-yeon (2009) as a research tool, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, homogeneity, Kruskal-Wallis, and Bonferroni post hoc tests with SPSS 29.0. The results of the study revealed a statistically significant difference between media consumption time and receptive vocabulary; however, no such difference was noted in expressive vocabulary. In particular, there were no significant differences between the groups in terms of either receptive or expressive vocabulary development in the media consumption time groups. This suggests that further research is necessary to better understand the development of vocabulary in relation to time spent using digital media.
