학습전략 사용 여부에 미치는 착각 유형의 베이지안 추론 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 베이즈 추정을 이용하여 4가지 학습전략의 사용여부에 대해 추정한 사전확률을 착각점수에 비추어 갱신하고, 그 결과의 교육적 함의를 제안하는 것이 목적이다. 231명의 종합대학 교양과목 수강생을 대상으로 예상점수와 가장 자주 사용하는 학습전략 3가지와 그 사용정도를 설문을 통해 확보했다. 예상점수와 실제점수의 차이인 착각점수를 기준으로 4분위를 설정한 후 각 분위별 실제점수를 산정하여 실제점수 간 차이가 있는지를 확인한 결과, 실제점수는 착각점수가 클수록 낮았으나, 착각점수가 가장 낮은 두 집단의 실제점수는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 대표적인 학습전략 4가지의 사용여부에 대해 설정한 사전확률을 설문을 통해 확보한 착각점수를 적용한 후 갱신된 사후확률을 확인한 결과, 근접착각의 경우, 유용성 ‘상’ 전략의 사용은 감소했으며, ‘하’ 전략의 사용은 증가했다. 즉 자신의 역량을 가장 정확하게 판단하는 학생들이 ‘상’ 전략은 상대적으로 덜 사용하며 ‘하’ 전략은 더 사용하고 있다. 과소착각자는 상대적으로 학업성취도가 우수한 학생들로 구성되어 있는데, 이들은 ‘상’ 전략은 적게 사용하고, ‘하’ 전략 또한 적게 사용하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 과대착각자는 상대적으로 열등한 학생들로 구성되어 있는데, 이들은 ‘상’ 전략은 많이 사용하고, ‘하’ 전략 중 ‘반복읽기’는 많이 사용하나 ‘강조/밑줄긋기’와 ‘요약하기’는 적게 사용했다. 즉 학업성취가 우수한 학생들이 ‘하’ 전략을 상대적으로 덜 사용하고 있으며, 학업성취가 중간에 속하는 근접착각자들은 ‘하’ 전략을 더 많이 사용하고 있었다. 비교적 열등한 학업성취를 보이는 과대착각자는 ‘반복읽기’는 더 많이 사용하지만 ‘강조/밑줄긋기’와 ‘요약하기’는 덜 사용하는 것으로 확인된다. 결론적으로 학습전략 사용여부의 사전확률을 착각정도(과대, 근접, 과소)를 반영한 후 베이지안 추론을 통해 갱신한 사후확률에 따르면 학생들은 착각유형에 일치하지 않은 학습전략 사용경향을 보이는 것으로 확인된다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to use Bayesian inference(BI) to update prior probabilities(PP) of the use of four study strategies in light of the illusion score(IS) and to suggest pedagogical implications of the results. 231 university students were surveyed. After establishing four quartiles based on the IS(expected - actual score), the actual score(AS) of each quartile was calculated to see if there was a difference between the ASs, and the ASs were lower as the higher the IS, but the ASs of the two groups with the lowest ISs were not significantly different. The posterior probabilities(PoP) of the use of four learning strategies were updated after applying the ISs from the survey to the PP of their use, and the results showed that, for close illusion, the use of the ‘high’ useful strategy decreased and the use of the ‘low’ strategy(LS) increased, i.e., students who most accurately judge their competence are using less of the ‘high’ strategy(HS) and more of the LS. The underestimators are made up of relatively high achieving students, who are found to use fewer HS and fewer LS. The overestimators(OS) were relatively poorer students, who used more of the HS and more of the LS, including ‘rereading(R)’, but less of ‘highlighting/underlining(H/U)’ and ‘summarising(S)’. In other words, the high-achievers were using less of the LS, and the near-achievers, who were in the middle of the academic spectrum, were using more of the LS. OS are more likely to use ‘R’ but less likely to use ‘H/U’ and ‘S’. In conclusion, the PoP of learning strategy use, updated by BI after accounting for the degree of illusion (over, near, or under), suggest that students tend to use learning strategies inconsistently with their illusion type.
