놀이중심교육과정에서 유아 수학교육에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식: 개념도 분석을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 놀이중심교육과정에서 유아 수학교육에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 사립유치원 교사 11명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 개념도 방법을 활용하여 ‘놀이중심교육과정에서 유아 수학교육이란?’ 초점질문에 대해 연구참여자가 생각을 진술하고 범주화하며 중요도를 평정하였다. 이를 다차원 척도분석과 계층적 군집분석을 실시하여 분석한 결과 첫째, 유아 수학교육에 대한 인식은 최종 69개의 진술문이 생성되었으며, 다차원 척도 분석을 실시하여 [유아-교사], [부정적-긍정적]의 2개 차원으로 구분하였다. 또한, 최종 진술문에 대한 군집분석을 실시한 결과, ‘가치로운 것’, ‘배움이 일어나는 것’, ‘일상생활인 것’, ‘중요하면서도 어렵게 느껴지는 것’. ‘다양한 방법이 필요한 것’, ‘교사의 역량이 필요한 것’ 6개 군집으로 분류되었다. 둘째, 군집별 중요도를 살펴본 결과, 군집 2인 ‘배움이 일어나는 것’이 가장 높은 중요도를 나 타냈고, 진술문별 중요도를 살펴본 결과, ‘놀이 속에서 이루어지는 것’이 가장 높은 중요도를 나타냈다. 본 연구의 결과 유치원 교사는 유아 수학교육에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었으나 수학교육에 대한 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 놀이중심교육과정에서 유치원 교사들이 수학교육에 긍정적으로 인식하여 수학교육을 실천하는 방안을 마련하는데 기초로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 본다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine kindergaten teacher’s perceptions of early childood mathematics education in a play-based curriculum. To achieve this, 11 teachers from private kindergartens were selected as study participants. Using the conceptual map method, the study participants stated their thoughts, categorized them, and rated the importance of the focus question, ‘What is early childhood mathematics education in a play-based curriculum?’ As a result of analyzing this by conducting multidimensional scale analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis, first, 69 final statements were generated, and a multidimensional scale analysis was conducted and divided into two dimensions: [infant-teacher] and [negative-positive]. In addition, as a result of a cluster analysis of the final statement, it was classified into six clusters: ‘Valuable things,’ ‘Things where learning occurs,’ ‘Everyday life,’ ‘Important but difficult things,’ ‘Things requiring various methods,’ and ‘Things requiring teacher competence.’ Second, as for the importance of each cluster, ‘Things where learning occurs’ showed the highest importance, and as for the importance of each statement, ‘Things that occur within play’ showed the highest importance. As a result of this study, kindergarten teachers were positively aware of early childhood mathematics education, but there were difficulties in mathematics education. The results of this study are expected to be used as a basis for developing strategies to help kindergarten teachers to positively perceive and implement mathematics education in a play-based curriculum.
