시각문화 미술교육에 기초한 자화상 수업이 중학교 1학년의 인성 함양에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 시각문화 미술교육에 기초한 자화상 수업을 통해 중학교 1학년의 인성 함양에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 미래사회로 나아가면서 학습자들에게 인성교육의 필요성이 지속적으로 언급되며, 민주시민으로서 필요한 자질을 갖추게 하여 인간다운 삶을 살아가도록 돕는 것이 중요해졌다. 본 연구에서는 시각문화 미술교육에 기초한 자화상에 대한 선행연구와 문헌조사를 통해 인성 함양 교육 방안을 이론적으로 검토하여 교수·학습지도 계획을 수립하였다. 아울러 서울 S구에 위치한 B중학교 1학년 6학급 (130명)을 구성하여 시각문화 미술교육에 기초한 자화상 수업의 효과를 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 쓰인 KEDI 인성검사는 10개의 인성 덕목 하위 항목 중, 4가지의 요소들로 구성하였으며, 이를 본 연구수업의 학습 목표에 맞춰 함양될 수 있는 인성 덕목들을 선택하여 검사를 진행하였다. 연구 결과 자기존중, 배려·소통, (사회적) 책임, 자기조절의 4가지 하위 영역들이 자화상 수업 이후 학습자들의 인성 함양에 유의미한 결과를 도출할 수 있었음을 확인하였다. 또한 수업 만족도 조사, 작품 결과물 질적 분석, 활동지, 자기평가, 동료평가 등을 정량적으로 분석함으로써 실험군의 인성 덕목이 유의미하게 향상되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 미래사회로 대두되면서 인성교육이 연이어 강조되고 있는 현시점에서 미래 미술교육이 나아가야 할 방향성을 제시하는 데 본 연구가 일조하기를 바란다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of self-portrait lessons based on visual culture art education on the character development of first-year middle school students. As the importance of character education continues to be emphasized to learners in the context of progressing towards a future society, helping them develop the qualities necessary for democratic citizenship and live a humane life has become crucial. In this study, theoretical considerations for character development education were made through a review of previous studies and literature on self-portraits based on visual culture art education, leading to the formulation of teaching and learning plans. Additionally, the effects of self-portrait lessons based on visual culture art education were analyzed by establishing six classes of first-year students (130 students) at B Middle School in Seoul, S District. The KEDI character test used in this study consisted of four elements selected to correspond to the learning objectives of the research course, among the ten sub-items of character virtues. The research results confirmed that four sub-domains: self-respect, consideration and communication, (social) responsibility, and self-control, yielded significant improvements in character development among learners after the self-portrait lessons. Furthermore, through quantitative analysis of satisfaction surveys, qualitative analysis of artwork results, activity sheets, self-assessments, and peer assessments, it was observed that the character virtues of the experimental group significantly improved. At this juncture where character education is increasingly emphasized in anticipation of future society, it is hoped that this study will contribute to outlining the direction that future art education should take.
