국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 성인 발달장애 자녀를 돌보는 중고령 부모의 돌봄부담 및 삶의 만족도에 주목하여, 이에 영향을 미치는 요인을 포괄적으로 검증하고 규명함으로써 이들의 삶에 대한 관심을 촉구하는 한편 사회적 지원 방안을 논의하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 고용노동부와 한국장애인고용공단이 조사한 ｢2020년 발달장애인 일과 삶 실태조사」자료를 활용하였으며, 연구대상은 만 19세 이상 만 40세 미만의 성인 발달장애 자녀와 동거하는 부모 1,518명이다. 분석은 SPSS 및 PROCESS macro를 활용하여 다중매개효과와 부트스트래핑(bootstrapping) 검증을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 성인 발달장애 자녀의 도전적 행동 정도와 돌봄시간은 정적(+), 자녀의 자립 의지는 부적(-)으로 부모의 돌봄부담에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 성인 발달장애 자녀의 도전적 행동 정도, 돌봄시간 및 자립의지는 부모의 돌봄부담을 매개로 삶의 만족도에 직·간접적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 부분 매개효과가 검증되었다. 제언: 연구결과를 기반으로 성인 발달장애인의 도전적 행동에 대한 지원 및 교육의 강화와 주간활동서비스의 실효성 있는 구체화 방안을 제언하였다. 또한 발달장애인의 생애주기 및 특성을 고려한 평생설계의 지원과 발달장애 자녀 가구에 대한 서비스 개입 확대를 통한 부모의 돌봄부담 및 삶의 만족도 제고 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the caregiving burden and life satisfaction of parents caring for young adult children with developmental disabilities. We utilized data from the‘2020 Survey on Work and Life Survey for Developmental Disabilities’conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, the study targets 1,518 parents cohabitating with developmental disability children aged 19 to under 40. The analysis was conducted using SPSS and the PROCESS macro, focusing on multiple mediation effects and bootstrapping for validation. The study's main findings are as follows: First, higher levels of challenging behavior and increased caregiving hours for young adults with developmental disabilities positively impacted the parents' caregiving burden, whereas a greater desire for independence among these young adults negatively impacted it. Secondly, these factors (challenging behavior, caregiving hours, and desire for independence) significantly influence life satisfaction both directly and indirectly through caregiving burden, confirming the presence of partial mediation effects. Based on these findings, the study recommends enhancing support and education to address challenging behaviors in young adults with developmental disabilities and developing effective, concrete strategies for daytime activity services. Additionally, the study discusses ways to improve caregiving burden and life satisfaction for parents through life planning support considering the life cycle and characteristics of individuals with developmental disabilities and expanding service interventions for families with developmental disability children.
