『전습록』 속 ‘배움’의 유아교육적 방향 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 왕양명의 『전습록』을 통해 ‘배움’의 의미를 살펴보고, 이를 유아교육적으로 풀어보는 것이 목적이다. 왕양명은 양명학을 대표하는 학자로, 이를 설명하는 핵심 개념은 심즉리(心卽理), 지행합일(知行合一), 치양지(致良知)이다. 『전습록』에는 왕양명의 사상이 잘 담겨 있고, ‘배움’에 대한 그의 생각 역시 이러한 내용들을 바탕으로 한다. 『전습록』에서 찾은 ‘배움’의 의미는 근본(本)이 있는 배움, 마음(心)을 깨닫고 키우는 배움, 성실(誠)하고 꾸준하게 이루어져야 하는 배움, 실천(行)으로 이어지는 배움으로 정리해 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 ‘배움’의 유아교육적 방향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아들의 자발적이고 능동적 배움을 지향하는 것을 유아교육의 목표로 해야 한다. 둘째, 유아교육에서 유아들의 마음을 다루는 교육내용을 많이 포함해야 한다. 셋째, 유아교육은 유아들의 삶을 바탕으로 꾸준히 이루어지는 교육방법을 다루어야 한다. 넷째, 유아교육에서 교사는 실천과 합일의 배움을 지지하는 역할을 해야 한다. 이처럼 왕양명의 『전습록』 속 ‘배움’의 고찰은 유아교육에서 전통의 가르침을 이어받아 현대적 배움의 실천 방향을 제시했다는 점에서 많은 시사점을 가진다.

영문 초록

This study to examines the meaning of “learning” Wang Yang-myeong's 『Chuanxilu』to explore its application in early childhood education. Wang Yang-myeong a representative scholar in Yangmingism, posits core concepts that assert rationality of the mind, knowing and acting are unified, while also emphasizing the restoration and expansion of the mind-body connection. The 『Chuanxilu』 effectively expresses Wang Yang-myeong's thoughts, particularly regarding “learning”. The meaning of “learning” in 『Chuanxilu』 can be summarized as learning with a foundation, realizing and fostering the mind, faithful and steady learning, and achievable learning. The direction of early childhood education based on this concept “learning” is as follows. First, the goal of early childhood education should be voluntary and active learning in early childhood. Second, early childhood education should contain much educational content relevant to the mind in early childhood. Third, early childhood education must implement educational methods steadily developed based on the lives of young children. Fourth, in early childhood education, teachers should play a role in supporting practice and fostering unity of learning. Thus, the consideration of “learning” in Wang Yang-myeong's 『Chuanxilu』 holds many implications for the direction of modern learning practices by the transmitting traditional teachings in early childhood education.
