지속가능발전교육의 관점에서 중학교 미술 교과서 분석 및 심층 면담을 통한 개선 방향 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 미술 교과에서 지속가능발전교육 활성화를 위해 2015 개정 중학교 미술 교과서 내 지속가능발전교육 반영 정도를 분석하고, 개선 방향을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 지속가능발전과 지속가능발전교육에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하고, 미술 교육과 지속가능발전교육과의 연결성에 대해 살펴보며 2015 개정 중학교 미술 교과서 분석 및 현직 미술 교사들의 면담을 진행하였다. 분석 대상은 2015 개정 중학교 미술 교과서 14종이며 분석 기준은 구성, 단원, 내용으로 설정하여 교과서 내에 지속가능발전의 사회·경제·환경·문화 네 영역의 통합적 관점과 지향점이 반영된 부분을 가지고 통계분석과 사례분석을 진행하였다. 이에 더해 현직 학교 미술 교사 10명을 대상으로 면담을 진행하여 지속가능발전교육에 대한 인식, 교육 경험, 학교 교육 현장에서의 실질적 활용 방안과 실행 방향성에 대한 의견에 대해 탐색하였으며 연구 결과를 종합해 개선 방향을 제안하였다. 연구 진행 결과, 2015 개정 중학교 미술 교과서 내에 지속가능발전교육의 반영률은 매우 적었으나 주제적으로 활용할 수 있는 요소들이 반영되어 있음을 파악하였다. 이에 미술 교과서를 개선함에 있어 지속가능발전교육의 반영을 개별 단원으로 구성하고, 내용 체계별 균형 있는 구성이 필요하며, 교과서의 활동에 있어 협동을 통한 토론이나 프로젝트, 실생활 연계 프로그램 등의 유의미한 내용을 담은 다양한 학습 방식의 연구가 필요하다. 이어 교원 연수 기회 확대를 통한 교사의 인식 개선, 교사 간 교류를 통한 지식 및 자료 공유, 타 교과와 융합을 통한 수업 연구가 필요하며 분석 결과 드러난 요구를 반영하여 미술 교과에서 효율적이고 효과적인 지속가능발전교육이 실행될 수 있도록 해야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to assess the representation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the revised 2015 middle school art textbooks, and to identify potential avenues for their enhancement, thus promoting the incorporation of ESD in art education. The investigation involved a theoretical review of sustainable development and ESD, an exploration of the link between art education and ESD, an examination of the 2015 revised middle school art textbooks, and a series of interviews with current art teachers. The 2015 revised middle school art textbooks, constituting 14 different types, served as the subjects for analysis. The study aimed to determine whether an integrated perspective of the four domains of sustainable development - social, economic, environmental, and cultural - was reflected within these textbooks. This was accomplished via statistical and case-based analyses. Furthermore, interviews were conducted with 10 active school art teachers to ascertain their understanding of ESD, their past educational experiences, and viable strategies for ESD application within the educational context. The findings then informed proposed directions for improvement. The findings of the study revealed minimal representation of ESD in the 2015 revised middle school art textbooks, although elements with potential for thematic utilization were identified. The recommendations for textbook enhancement include integrating ESD as distinct units, ensuring balanced and systematic content, and developing diverse learning strategies that incorporate meaningful elements such as cooperative discussions, projects, and real-life scenario programs. Other essential measures include increasing professional development opportunities to enhance teachers' understanding of ESD, encouraging knowledge sharing through teacher collaboration, and promoting interdisciplinary study. By considering the needs identified in the analysis, the study asserts the importance of implementing ESD efficiently and effectively within the context of art education.
