국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 경계선 지적 기능을 가진 초등학생의 인지 능력이 수학 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구방법: K-WISC-IV와 NISE-B·ACT를 이용하여 경계선 지적 기능을 가진 초등학생의 인지능력과 수학 성취도를 측정하였다. 인지 능력과 수학 학업 성취도의 특성을 파악하기 위해 기술통계, anova, 독립표본 t-검정을 실시하였으며, 인지 능력이 수학 학업성취도에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 Pearson의 상관분석, 단순회귀분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과: 경계선 지적 기능 초등학생의 인지 능력과 수학 학업 성취도 모두 또래에 비해 유의하게 낮았고, 전체 지능 지수(FSIQ)와 주요 인지 지표는 전체 수학 학업 성취도와 대부분의 영역별 수학 학업 성취도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구를 통해 경계선 지적 기능을 가진 초등학생의 인지 능력이 수학 학업 성취도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서 경계선 지적 기능을 가진 초등학생의 학업 성취도를 향상시키기 위해서는 인지 능력을 고려한 수학 교과목에 대한 교수 접근이 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of cognitive ability of elementary school students with borderline intellectual functioning on mathematics achievement. Method: Using K-WISC-Ⅳ and NISE-B·ACT, cognitive ability and mathematical achievement of elementary school students with borderline intellectual function were measured. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and independent samples t-test were performed to identify their cognitive ability and mathematics academic achievement characteristics. In addition, Pearson's correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed to check the effect of cognitive ability on math achievement. Results: Borderline intellectual functional elementary school students' cognitive ability and mathematical achievement were both significantly lower than their peers, and full scale intelligence quotient(FSIQ) and major cognitive indices had a significant effect on both overall mathematical achievement and by content areas. Conclusion: Through this study, it was confirmed that the cognitive ability of elementary students with borderline intellectual functioning affects mathematics achievement. Therefore, in order to improve the academic achievement of elementary school students with borderline intellectual function, a teaching approach to the mathematics subject considering individual differences in cognitive ability will be necessary.
