청각장애 대학생의 원격수업 현황과 개선방안

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 COVID-19 팬데믹 기간 동안 강의를 수강한 청각장애 대학생을 대상으로 원격수업 현황과 원격수업의 장점과 어려운 점이 무엇인지를 파악하고 나아가서 개선방안을 도출하고자 한다. 총 40명의 청각장애 대학생을 대상으로 설문 조사를 하였으며(수어 그룹: 5명, 구어와 수어 그룹: 6명, 구어 그룹: 29명), 강의 실태와 어려움, 개선사항에 대한 설문 항목은 총 10개로 구성하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 강의 현황 부분에서 원격수업 지원은 의사소통 수단에 따라 주된 지원 순위가 다름을 나타냈으며, 동영상 강의에서 수어 통역이나 속기, 자막 등의 지원이 저조한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 세 그룹 중에서 구어 그룹은 화면 구성이나 자막의 부재보다 소리에 대한 불편함을 가장 많이 나타냈다. 셋째, 개선사항으로 자막 지원을 호소했으며 다음으로 강의 자료 및 전달의 시각화, 속기 지원 확대 등으로 나타냈다. 본 연구를 통해서 전체적으로 속기 지원이나 자막제공을 확대하여 특히 구어 사용 학생들을 위한 구체적인 방안이 마련되어야 함을 시사했다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify the current status of distance learning and the strengths and difficulties of distance learning classes for deaf and hard-of-hearing University students who took lectures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and furthermore, to derive improvement plans. A total of 40 deaf and hard-of-hearing students were surveyed (sign group: 5, oral & sign group: 6, oral group: 29). As a result of the study, first, it was found that the main support order differed according to the communication mode for support in the distance lectures, especially the support for sign language interpretation, shorthand, and captions in video lectures was low. Second, among the three groups, the oral group showed the most discomfort about the sound rather than the screen composition or the absence of captions. Third, they appealed for caption support, followed by visualization of lecture materials and delivery, and expansion of support for shorthand. Through this study, it was suggested that specific measures should be prepared all communication mods for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, especially for students who use the spoken language, by expanding the support for shorthand or captions as a whole.
