한국수어 다의어 [귀신]의 의미와 교육 방안

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 한국수어에서 [귀신]의 다의적 용법을 분석하여 [귀신]을 위한 교육 방안을 제안하는 것이다. [귀신]의 의미를 분석하기 위해 3명의 농인과 면담을 수행하였다. 61개 용례에서 [귀신]의 의미 6개를 도출하였다: ‘귀신’, ‘없어지다’, ‘순식간’, ‘뜻밖에’, ‘원인을 알 수 없다’, ‘도사’, 6개 의미는 출몰, 초월적 능력, 순간 이동, 예측 불가라는 귀신의 주요 속성을 공유한다. 기본의미 ‘귀신’에서 5개의 파생의미로 확장된 것으로 분석하였다. 어휘교육의 일반적인 원리에 따라 다의어 [귀신]의 지도 방법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 맥락을 통해 의미 있는 어휘학습을 이루어지도록 한다. 둘째, 초급, 중급, 고급과정에서 반복 노출되어야 함과 동시에 다의어의 특성을 살려 세 과정에 걸쳐 기본의미와 파생의미를 단계적으로 제시한다. 셋째, [귀신]을 상세하고 깊이 있게 가르치기 위해 유의어를 활용한다. 넷째, 학습자들의 경험과 배경지식에 비추어 ‘귀신’의 속성과 같은 친숙한 개념을 활용한다. 다섯째, 학습자들이 [귀신]과 결합할 수 있는 적절한 단어를 찾아서 표현하도록 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the polysemantic usage of the word [gwisin] in Korean Sign Language (KSL) in order to propose teaching methods for the word [gwisin]. Interviews with three Deaf people were carried out to analyze the meanings of [gwisin]. From 61 examples, the 6 meanings of [gwisin] were derived: ‘ghost’, ‘disappear’, ‘brief-instant’, ‘unexpectedly’, ‘cause not known’, and ‘guru’. These 6 meanings have in common major attributes of ghost below: sudden appearance, transcendental capabilities, teleportation and unexpectancy. The analysis was made in such that expansions were made to five derived meanings from the basic meaning ‘gwisin’. According to the general principles of vocabulary education, the method of guiding the polysemic word [gwisin] is as follows. First, meaningful vocabulary learning is achieved through context. Second, it must be repeatedly exposed in the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and at the same time, the basic meaning and derived meaning are to be presented step by step over the three processes by taking advantage of the characteristics of polysemic words. Third, we use synonyms to teach [gwisin] in detail and in depth. Fourth, in light of learners' experiences and background knowledge, familiar concepts such as the attributes of ‘ghost’ are used. Fifth, let learners find and express appropriate words that can be combined with [gwisin].
