공감 중심 극화활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 인성에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 공감 중심 극화활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 인성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구대상으로 대구광역시 D구에 위치한 K초등학교병설유치원에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 20명을 실험집단으로, N초등학교병설유치원에 재원중인 만 5세 유아 20명을 비교집단으로 선정하였다. 연구기간은 2021년 4월부터 7월까지이며, 사전검사-실험처치-사후검사 순으로 연구를 실시하였다. 실험집단은 2주에 한권의 그림책을 기준으로 12주 동안 총 6권의 그림책을 활용하여 공감 중심 극화활동을 실시하였으며, 비교집단은 실험집단과 동일한 그림책으로 일반적인 극화활동을 실시하였다. 실험처치의 영향을 분석하기 위하여 SPSS for windows 21.0프로그램을 사용하여 사전․사후 검사에 대한 실험집단과 비교집단의 평균과 표준편차를 산출하고 사전 검사와 사후 검사의 차이에 따른 증가분 점수에 대해 독립표본 t검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 공감 중심 극화활동이 유아의 자아존중감과 각 하위영역 및 인성과 각 하위영역에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유아들이 공감 중심 극화활동을 통하여 교사나 또래로부터 공감적 지지와 반응을 지속적으로 받고 자신의 감정과 생각을 있는 그대로 수용받음으로써 자아존중감을 유의미하게 증진할 수 있으며, 그림책 속 등장인물의 입장과 생각을 자신의 경험과 결부하여 다양한 관점에서 바라보고 공감적 표현을 시도함으로써 인성을 배양할 수 있음을 보여준다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to probe the effects of dramatic play activities centered around empathy on young children’s self-esteem and their personality. 20 five-year-old children attending a K Elementary School kindergarten in D District in Daegu Metropolitan City, were selected as the experimental group. In addition, 20 five-year-old children enrolled in a N Elementary School kindergarten were selected as the comparison group. The experimental treatment was carried out from April to July, 2021. The experimental group performed empathy-centered dramatic play activities using six fairy tale books or 12 weeks, one fairy tale book for every two weeks. The comparison group performed general dramatic play activities with the same picture books. To analyze the effects of the experiemntal treatment, the mean and standard deviation of the pre-and post-test conducted on both groups were calculated. Additionally, an independent sample t-test was performed on the incremental scores according to the difference between the results of pre- and post-test. As a result, empathy-centered dramatic play activities had a positive effect on children’s self-esteem and their personality including sub domains each. These results show that children can significantly enhance their self-esteem and personality by continuously receiving empathic support and responses from teachers and peers through the well-designed empathy-centered dramatic play activities. and accepting their emotions and thoughts as they are. The results also show that young children’s personalty can be cultivated by looking at various viewpoints and expressing empathy toward the characters in the picture book stories in connection with their own experiences.
