국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 아동의 완벽주의와 사회불안의 관계에서 자동적 사고의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전북 J시 초등학교 5∼6학년 244명을 대상으로 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하고 SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS Macro 4.0을 사용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성별에 따른 차이를 살펴본 결과, 사회불안의 일부 하위요인과 자동적 사고의 일부 하위요인은 여아가 남아보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 학년에 따른 차이를 살펴본 결과, 사회불안 전체와 일부 하위요인 그리고 자동적 사고 전체와 일부 하위요인은 6학년이 5학년보다 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 아동의 사회불안, 완벽주의와 자동적 사고의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 완벽주의 하위요인 중 자기지향 완벽주의만이 사회불안과 정적 상관을 보였고, 자동적 사고는 완벽주의, 사회불안과 정적 상관을 보였다. 셋째, 아동의 완벽주의와 사회불안의 관계에서 자동적 사고의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 자동적 사고는 통계적으로 유의한 완전매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 인지적 접근을 통한 개입이 사회적 상황에서 경험하는 완벽주의 아동의 심리적 불편감을 완화하는 데 도움이 될 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 아동의 사회불안이 완벽주의에서 자동적 사고를 매개로 강화되는 인지적 과정을 확인하였으며, 비합리적 사고를 합리적인 사고로 변화시키는 인지 프로그램이 아동의 사회불안 완화에 효과적일 수 있다는 치료적 함의를 갖는다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between children’s perfectionism and social anxiety mediated by automatic thoughts. 244 elementary school students in J city of Jeonbuk Province participated in the study. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.0. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, according to gender, there were differences in the sub-factors of social anxiety and automatic thoughts. Also, according to grade, there were differences in social anxiety and automatic thoughts. Second, only self-oriented perfectionism and the sub-factor of perfectionism showed a positive correlation with social anxiety. Also, automatic thoughts showed a positive correlation with perfectionism and social anxiety. Third, automatic thoughts showed a full mediating effect in the relationship between children’s perfectionism and social anxiety. This means that cognitive intervention can help alleviate the psychological discomfort of perfectionist children experienced in social situations. This study confirms the cognitive process in which children’s social anxiety is reinforced from perfectionism through automatic thoughts. The study has therapeutic implications. A cognitive program that changes irrational thoughts into rational thinking can be effective in alleviating social anxiety in children.
