국문 초록

본 연구는 어머니의 기본심리욕구와 한계설정 양육행동이 유아의 의도적 통제에 미치는 영향에 있어 유아 성별의 조절된 매개효과를 검증하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 연구대상은 만 4, 5세 자녀를 둔 어머니 434명으로, 온라인 설문지에 응답하는 방식으로 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 PROCESS macro의 모델 4와 15를 활용하여 매개효과와 조절된 매개효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 어머니의 기본심리욕구에 해당하는 자율성, 유능성 및 관계성은 유아의 의도적 통제에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 어머니의 한계설정 양육행동은 어머니의 기본심리욕구가 유아의 의도적 통제에 미치는 영향을 매개하여, 부분매개모형이 지지되었다. 마지막으로 어머니의 기본심리욕구와 한계설정 양육행동이 유아의 의도적 통제에 미치는 영향에 있어서 유아 성별의 조절효과는 나타나지 않았다. 이와 같은 본 연구의 결과는 유아의 의도적 통제 발달에 있어서 유아의 성별과 관계없이 어머니의 기본심리욕구와 한계설정 양육행동이 중요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study is to examine whether maternal limit-setting parenting mediates the effects of their mother s basic psychological needs on the effortful control of their child aged 4 or 5. Also, moderating effects of children s gender on the paths from maternal basic psychological needs and limit-setting parenting to children s effortful control were examined. The subjects of the study were 434 mothers who participated in the on-line questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro 4.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, the PROCESS macro model 4 and 15 analyses showed that mother s basic psychological needs have a direct effect on their child s effortful control. Second, mother s limit-setting parenting behaviors partially mediate the effect of mother s basic psychological needs on their child s effortful control. Third, there was no moderating effect of child s gender on the influences of the mother s basic psychological needs and the limit-setting parenting behavior on their child s effortful control. This study shows that the mother s basic psychological needs and limit setting parenting behaviors are important in the effortful control development of young children, regardless of their gender.
