초등 신규 교사의 미술 수업 경험에 대한 연구

국문 초록

미술 교과의 목적이 현장에서 제대로 구현되기 위해서는 교사의 역할이 중요하다. 특히 신규 교사 시기는 교사 발달 단계에서 중요한 시기이다. 또한 초등학교에서는 주로 담임교사가 여러 과목을 가르치는 가운데에서 미술 수업을 수행하기에 다층적인 맥락이 작용하여 다양한 의미를 얻을 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등 신규 교사들의 미술 수업 경험의 본질을 총체적이고 심층적으로 이해하여 기술하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 전 생애적 인간 발달의 맥락에서 교사의 발달을 바라보고 신규 교사 시기의 의미를 드러내었다. 이와 더불어 교육에서 경험의 의미를 Dewey(1934/2016)의 논의를 중심으로 살펴보면서 미술 수업을 바라보는 관점을 수립하였다. 이를 바탕으로 초등 신규 교사의 미술 수업 경험의 의미를 탐구하기 위해 van Manen(1990/1994)의 해석학적 현상학의 방법을 활용하였다. 본 연구는 연구 참여자로 초등 1급 정교사 연수 이전의 초등 신규 교사 5인을 섭외하여 2021년 1월부터 5월까지 개별 심층 면담, 수업 영상 참여관찰, 연구 참여자 내러티브 자료와 같은 경험자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘학교 환경의 영향을 크게 받는 미술 수업의 다양성’, ‘다양한 경험 속 미술 시간, 작품으로 연결되는 교사와 학생’, ‘신규 시기 현장 경험의 완결성에 중요한 영향을 주는 동료 교사’, ‘스스로 만들어가는 미술 수업 경험의 완결성’, ‘교사별 개인차가 큰 미술 수업 지도’, ‘중요한 다양성, 그러나 제한적으로 생각하는 미술 교과 영역’의 본질적 주제가 도출되었다. 이는 미술 수업이 그 의미를 제대로 구현하여 교사와 학생 모두의 심미적 경험을 하도록 하는 데에 필요한 것이 무엇인지를 일깨울 것이다.

영문 초록

The role of the teacher is important in order for the purpose of the art curriculum to be properly realized in the field. In particular, the new teacher period is an important period in the teacher development. Also, in elementary schools, art classes are mainly conducted while the homeroom teacher teaches several subjects, so a multi-layered context works. The purpose of this study is to understand and describe the essence of the art class experience of new elementary school teachers in a holistic and in-depth manner. For this, first, research on the development of teachers in the context of life-span development. It revealed the meaning of the new teacher period. In addition, by examining the meaning of experience in education, focusing on Dewey s views, a perspective on art class was established. Based on this, in order to explore the meaning of the art class experience of new elementary school teachers, a phenomenological research method was used to extract common meaning from the subjective experience data of individuals who experienced the phenomenon. Among the phenomenological research methods, van Manen s method of hermeneutic phenomenology was used. Accordingly, in order to proceed with the study, five new elementary school teachers before 1st level regular teacher qualification training were recruited as research participants. Experience data were collected from January to May 2021 from the research participants. In addition to the in-depth personal interview, participant observation through class video, and narrative data of the study participants were also collected. As a result of data analysis, six essential themes were derived. The first theme is ‘the diversity of art classes greatly affected by the school environment’. The second theme is ‘art class in a variety of experiences, teachers and students connected through art class work’. The third theme is ‘fellow teachers who have a significant influence on the completeness of field experience during the new teacher period’. The fourth theme is ‘Completeness of the art class experience created by new teachers themselves’. The fifth theme is ‘art class guidance with large individual differences by teachers’. The sixth theme is ‘new teachers who value diversity, but who think the art subject area is limited’. This will awaken what art classes need to truly embody their meaning and create an aesthetic experience for both teachers and students.
