맥락 기반 과제 해결 과정에서 초등학생들이 구성하는 평균의 대표성 개념 분석: AiC 이론을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 AiC(Abstraction in Context) 이론에 따라 설계된 맥락 기반 과제를 해결하는 과정에서 초등학생들이 평균의 대표성 개념을 어떻게 구성하는지 파악하는 데 목표를 둔다. 이를 위해 초등학생들이 평균을 구하는 알고리즘과 별개로 평균 개념의 대표성을 탐구할 수 있는 맥락 기반 과제를 설계하여 해결하도록 하였다. 초등학생들의 과제 해결 과정에서 드러난 인식론적 행동은 AiC 이론의 RBC 모델(Recognizing, Building-with, Constructing)로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 초기 단계에서 평균을 단순한 계산 결과로만 인식하였으나, 학습을 통해 평균이 자료집합을 대표하는 대푯값이자, 극단값과 자료 분포의 영향을 받을 수 있는 개념임을 이해하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 AiC 이론에 따라 맥락 기반 과제를 설계하여 활용하는 통계 수업에서 학생들의 인식론적 행동 지표를 확인하여 통계 개념의 학습을 촉진하였음을 밝혔다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to examine whether elementary school students can construct the concept of representativeness in arithmetic mean while solving context-based tasks designed according to the Abstraction in Context(AiC) theory. To achieve this, context-based tasks were developed to allow students to explore the representativeness in arithmetic mean independently of the algorithm for calculating it. The epistemological actions exhibited by students during task-solving were analyzed using the RBC model(Recognizing, Building-with, Constructing) of AiC theory. The findings reveal that students initially perceived the arithmetic mean merely as a computational result; however, through learning, they came to understand the arithmetic mean as a representative value of a data set that can be influenced by outliers and data distribution. This study highlights the significance of designing and utilizing context-based tasks in statistics education based on AiC theory, demonstrating how students' epistemological actions can be identified to facilitate their learning of statistical concepts.
