원격 역사 수업의 현황 및 활용 가능성에 대한 모색

국문 초록

본 연구는 현직교사와 예비교사를 대상으로 한 설문 및 면담 조사를 기반으로 코로나 19 발생 이후 원격 환경상의역사 수업 운영을 알아보고 역사 수업에 활용 가능한 원격 환경의 장점 및 가능성을 규명하여, 원격 환경에서 시도해볼 수있는 역사 수업의 방안을 모색하였다. 연구 참여 교사들은 국가 발행 자료보다 동료 교사 간의 수업 사례 공유가 실제 원격수업 운영에 도움이 된다고 선호도를 밝혔다. 코로나 19 이후 실제로 활용하는 원격 역사 수업의 유형은 ‘현장 수업 녹화 강의’, ‘원격 수업을 위해 설계한 녹화 강의’, ‘실시간 쌍방향 플랫폼 이용 수업’으로 나타났다. 교사들이 원격 수업의 가장 큰어려움으로 꼽은 것은 학생과의 소통 문제라고 할 수 있다. 동시에 원격 수업 상황으로 인해 개별화된 소통 가능성을 열어주었다고 평가되기도 하였다. 교사들이 지적한 원격 역사 수업의 장점은 조사 학습을 위한 자료 조사의 용이함, 학생의 학습 활동 기록 및 과정 평가의 수월함, 학생 주도의 수업 구현의 가능성 및 심화된 역사학습을 위한 수업의 확장성 등을 포함하였다. 본 연구 결과에 기초하여 앞으로 역사과의 진로 과목 개설과 고교학점제 시행 국면에서 활용할 수 있는 원격 역사 수업에 대한 연구에 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to assess the feasibility of remote education of history and review the current status of history lessons after the outbreak of COVID-19. For this purpose, a small-scale survey was conducted with in-service and pre-service teachers and interview was made, to learn hardships they experienced and feasibility in designing remote history lessons. The data analysis showed that the teachers depended more on sharing experiences with peer teachers instead of the state-published teaching materials in designing remote history class. The types of remote lessons they used consist of “on-site class recording lectures,” “tape-recorded lectures designed for remote classes,” and “real-time interactive platform-based lectures.” The results indicate that teachers had experienced difficulty in communicating with individual students in remote education environments but at the same time remote education classes opened possibility of personalized communication. The biggest merits of remote history class the teachers identified were being easier for students to search topic-related materials, more convenient to record students’ activity and evaluate the learning process, possibility of student-led class and expandability of class for history education for deeper-level learning. The study findings are expected to provide insights to leverage in opening career subjects for history and further studies on remote history education to be utilized in implementing high school credit system.
