유아교육과 신입생이 인식한 유치원교사와 어린이집교사의 이미지 차이에 대한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아교육과 신입생들이 인식하고 있는 유치원교사와 어린이집교사의 이미지 차이를 분석하는 것이다. P시에 위치한 3년제 전문대학 유아교육과 신입생 68명을 연구 참여자로 하여 ‘유치원교사는 00이다. 왜냐하면 ～이기 때문이다.’와 ‘어린이집교사는 00이다. 왜냐하면 ～이기 때문이다.’라는 문항을 통해 유치원교사와 어린이집교사의 이미지를 살펴보았으며, 응답내용이 정확하지 않은 대상자를 중심으로 비구조적 면담을 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 근거이론을 중심의 개방코딩방법을 통해 분석되었다. 연구결과, 유아교육과 신입생들이 인식한 유치원교사와 어린이집교사의 이미지는 교수자, 부모, 다재다능한 자, 친구, 리더로 동일하게 범주화 되었으나 응답한 이미지 빈도에는 상당한 차이가 있었다. 유아교육과 신입생들은 주로 유치원교사를 교수자, 리더와 같이 유아들을 가르치고 안내하는 역할을 하는 것으로 인식하는 반면, 어린이집교사는 교육보다는 보호와 돌봄의 역할로 인식하고 있었다. 끝으로 본 연구에서는 누리과정의 시행으로 유치원과 어린이집의 일원화가 시도되고 있는 시점에서 예비유아교사들이 올바른 교사상을 마련하기 위해 유아교사 교육자들이 어떠한 역할을 해야 하는지에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of first year students enrolled in the Department of Early Childhood Education regarding their image of kindergarten and day-care center teachers. This study intended to provide fundamental information concerning the image that early childhood student teachers had about kindergarten teachers and day-care center teachers. The subjects of the study were 68 first-year students from the Department of Early Childhood Education. The data were collected based on their responses to questions such as “Kindergarten teachers are 00. Because of 00.” and “Day-care center teachers are 00. Because of 00.” Unstructured individual interviews were also conducted. Data were analyzed through open coding and categorization based on ground theory. The results of the study showed that the first-year students perceived kindergarten teachers have a firm view on education, imagining them as instructors and leaders. On the other hand, they perceived day-care center teachers in the image of parents as loveing, caring, and devoted figures rather than someone with teaching and education.
