국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 종이끈을 활용한 생태 활동과 유아의 자기조절능력 및 창의성과의 관계를 탐색하는 것이다. 연구 대상은 대구 소재 A유치원 만 5세 유아 총 68명으로 실험집단에 35명, 통제집단에 33명을 배치하였다. 약 8주, 총 26차시동안 실험집단에는 본 연구에서 개발한 종이끈을 활용한 생태 활동을 적용하였고, 통제집단에는 아무런 처치를 하지 않았다. 활동의 효과를 검증하기 위하여, 사전검사를 공변인으로 통제한 후 사후검사가 처치유형에 따라 유의한 차이를 나타내는지 살펴보기 위해 공분산분석(ANCOVA)를 실시하였다. 그 결과 실험집단 유아의 자기조절능력(인지조절, 정서조절)과 창의성(유창성, 융통성, 독창성, 상상력)은 통제집단 유아보다 높게 증진된 것으로 나타났으며, 이러한 차이는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이 연구결과는 유아의 자기조절능력과 창의성 증진에 있어 숲과 운동장, 교실 등 다양한 장소에서 실시한 종이끈을 활용한 생태 활동이 효과적임을 알 수 있다. 마지막으로 유아용 생태 활동에서 종이끈 활용의 유용성 및 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to examine whether ecological play with paper string craft would improve children s self-regulation and creativity. In total, 68 five-year-old children were selected from kindergarten “A in D city. Ecological play with paper string craft which was developed for this study was conducted with 35 children in the experimental group, while no changes in play occurred in the control group. In order to compare the group differences for self-regulation and creativity after 26 play sessions with each group, analysis of covariance(ANCOVA) was conducted using SPSS 18.0. For ANCOVA, the pretest score was used as a covariate, and the post-test scores were compared. The results showed that the experimental group had a statistically significant higher performance not only in cognitive and emotional regulation, but also in fluency, flexibility, originality, and imagination. The findings of this study showed that the ecological play with paper string craft is more effective in stimulating children s self-regulation and creativity than the traditional curriculum. Finally, the implications and usefulness of an early childhood education program using the ecological materials such as paper string were discussed.
