아토피 증상 영유아기 자녀를 양육하는 부모의 어려움과 요구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 아토피 증상이 있는 영유아기 자녀의 부모가 양육 과정에서 경험하는 어려움과 지원에 대한 요구를 알아보기 위하여 아토피 증상 영유아기 자녀를 양육하는 12인의 부모를 대상으로 면접을 실시하였다. 연구결과 아토피 자녀를 양육하는 부모들은 자녀의 가려움증으로 인해 잠을 자지 못하는 고통, 죄책감이나 염려로 인한 심리적 고통, 신뢰할 수 있는 치료 정보의 부족, 아토피 치료로 인한 장기 결석과 교사의 인식 부족, 아토피 관리를 위한 부탁이 잘 수용되지 않음으로 인한 어려움, 유아교육기관에서 제공하는 음식과 관련된 어려움, 그리고 또래관계에서의 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 둘째, 아토피 증상이 있는 영유아기 자녀를 양육하는 부모들이 원하는 지원에는 의료비 지원, 아토피 관련 부모교육과 심리치료, 아토피 자녀를 믿고 맡길 수 있는 유아교육기관 운영, 유아교사와 유아들을 위한 아토피 관련 교육, 그리고 자녀의 아토피 관리를 위한 가정과 기관의 협조 체계 강화가 포함되었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to identify the difficulties and needs of parents raising young children with atopic dermatitis. In-depth interviews were carried out with 12 parents with such children. The findings of the study indicated that most of the parents were not able to sleep enough in order to care for their children who suffered from severe itching at night time. The feelings of guilt and anxiety about the long-lasting illness were also identified as difficulties. Parents raising young children with atopic dermatitis also experienced difficulties in adopting appropriate medical treatments for their child. They reported that their children were often absent from early childhood centers in order to receive proper medical treatment, and they encountered a lack of understanding about the situation from the teachers. Parents also expressed concerns about their child s peer relationships due to the visible skin irritation. To counter these difficulties, the parents wanted financial support for medical treatments, on-going consultations and psychological therapies for families, and early childhood centers that were supportive of children suffering from atopic dermatitis as well as their families. The parents suggested educational activities aimed at enhancing teachers and children s understanding of atopic dermatitis, and strengthening the collaboration between families and teachers to reduce the symptoms of the disease.
