국문 초록

본 연구는 국립중앙박물관 특별전 <미술 속 도시, 도시 속 미술>을 대상으로 진행한 관람자 조사를 통하여 전시평가의 방법과 의미를 탐구하는 연구이다. 지금까지 대개 전시평가는 전문가 비평의 방법을 제외하고는, 설문지를 사용한 출구 조사의 형태로 관람자 전시 만족도를 조사하는 방식으로 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 이러한 방법은 구체적인 관람자의 생각을 알기 어렵 고, 대략적인 관람자의 만족도만을 파악할 수 있을 뿐이다. 따라서 본 연구는 질적 연구방법론을 통해, 연구 참여자인 관람자의 경험을 드러내는 관람자 조사 방법을 시도해봄으로써, 전시평가의 새로운 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 전시평가의 결과를 분석하고, 그 의의를 탐구한 결과 1)관람자의 반응으로 전시를 평가한다는 것의 의미 2)전시평가를 통해 박물관 관계자들이 ‘실존하는 관람자’와 만난다는 것의 의미, 3)‘관람자 내러티브’로 살펴볼 수 있는 관람자 경험의 속성을 논하였고, 이를 바탕 으로 상호주관적이며, 성찰적인 전시평가의 가능성을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to experiment the method of ‘exhibition evaluation’ incorporating qualitative research method which would magnify visitors’ voices. For this, I collected visitors’ responses to special exhibition held at the National Museum of Korea in 2016 through in-depth interview and behaviors mapping. So far, the exhibition evaluation has been reported to be mainly conduced in the form of an exit interview, using a questionnaire requiring rating scale from 1 to 5 or a structured interview requiring simple answers, which could show the tendency how visitors were satisfied but could not show how visitors thought and felt specifically toward an exhibition. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the substance of visitors experience when they visit the museum and the exhibition, thereby suggesting the alternative method of exhibition evaluation through which visitors’ voices resonated into the museum. As a result, this study discusses the implication of three findings as such: 1) the possibility of intersubjective, reflective and collaborative method of exhibition evaluation 2) the encounter of museum professionals with substantial visitors voices and 3) the implication of visitors’ narratives toward museum education.
