중세 한국어 ‘이ᅀᅡ’의 문법적 성격과 실현 양상 -『법화경언해』를 중심으로-

국문 초록

15∼16세기의 중세 한국어에서 나타나는 ‘이ᅀᅡ’에 대하여 여러 가지의 논의가 있었다. 곧, 선행 연구에서는 ‘이ᅀᅡ’를 주격 조사인 ‘-이’와 보조사인 ‘-ᅀᅡ’가 결합한 복합 형식으로 처리하기도 하고, ‘이ᅀᅡ’ 자체를 보조사인 ‘-ᅀᅡ’의 변이 형태로 처리하기도 하였다. 이와는 달리 ‘이ᅀᅡ’를 계사(繫辭)의 ‘-이-’의 활용 형태로 보고 ‘-ᅀᅡ’를 계사의 어간에 붙는 연결 어미로 처리하는 견해도 있었다. 이러한 다양한 논의에도 불구하고 15∼16세기에 쓰인 ‘이ᅀᅡ’의 문법적인 성격을 명확하게 규명하지는 못했다. 이와 같은 상황을 고려하여 이 글에서는 ‘이ᅀᅡ’와 관련한 선행 연구의 내용을 재검증하여서, ‘이ᅀᅡ’의 문법적인 성격을 주격 조사인 ‘-이’와 보조사인 ‘-ᅀᅡ’가 결합한 복합 형식임을 밝혔다. 그리고 󰡔법화경언해󰡕에 나타난 실제의 예문을 통하여, 주격 조사인 ‘-이’에 한정 강조의 뜻을 나타내는 보조사인 ‘-ᅀᅡ’가 실현되는 조건을 규명하였다.

영문 초록

There have been various discussions about ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ)’ appearing in the Korean language of the 15th and 16th centuries. Thus, in previous studies, ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ) was treated as a complex form in which the nominative case marker ‘-i(-이) and the auxiliary particle ‘-za(-ᅀᅡ) were combined, and ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ) itself was treated as a variation form of the auxiliary particle ‘-za(-ᅀᅡ) . On the other hand, there was an opinion that ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ)’ was viewed as a form of conjugation of ‘-i(-이-)-’ in the copula and ‘-za(-ᅀᅡ)’ as a connecting ending attached to the stem of the copula. Despite these various discussions, the grammatical nature of ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ)’ used in the 15th and 16th centuries has not been clearly identified. Considering this situation, this article re-examines the contents of previous studies related to ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ)’ and examines the grammatical characteristics of ‘iza(이ᅀᅡ) by using the nominative case marker ‘-i(-이) and the auxiliary partcle ‘-za(-ᅀᅡ) . It is revealed that it is a combined complex form. And through the example sentences shown in the ‘Beophwagyeongeonhae(法華經諺解) , the conditions under which the nominative case marker ‘-i(-이) and the auxiliary partcle ‘-za(-ᅀᅡ) are realized were clarified.
