발달장애인 가정의 가족건강성에 관한 부모 인식 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 우리나라 발달장애인들의 생활이 공적 지원체계보다는 비공식적인 가족 돌봄에 의해 이루어지고 있는 경우가 많다는 것에 주목하여, 가족 돌봄에 중요한 영향을 미치는 발달장애인 가정의 가족건강성에 관한 질적 연구를 실시하였다. 성인 발달장애인을 지원하는 보호자 7명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하여 가족건강성 구성 요소인 ‘가족 간의 유대’, ‘의사소통’, ‘문제해결 능력’, ‘가족 가치체계’ 라는 하위 구성 요소를 통해 발달장애인 자녀를 양육하고 있는 부모들의 경험을 분석하여 장애가 가족건강성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 가족 간의 유대는 장애 자녀의 발달 단계, 장애유형, 생애주기에 따른 다양한 문제에 직면하여 구성원의 이해와 배려, 상호 노력으로 강화되는 측면이 있었다. 둘째, 의사소통은 가족건강성의 핵심요소로 가족의 문제를 해결하기 위해 서로의 의견을 자유롭게 나누며 창의적인 대안을 찾고, 의사결정을 공유하여 가족의 갈등을 해결하려는 노력을 끊임없이 해나가는 과정이라고 하였다. 셋째, 문제해결 능력에서 장애 가족은 비장애 자녀 문제, 장애수용 등 여러 위기에 맞닥뜨리지만 가족원이 공동의 노력과 책임을 가지고, 긍정적인 방법으로 대처해 나가는 경우가 많은 것을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 발달장애 가족 구성원들의 가치체계는 고정된 것이 아니라, 인생에 있어서 중요하다고 생각하는 것이 서로 일치한다는 생각과 관심사와 취미, 규칙이나 가치관은 함께 만든다고 생각하는 것에 있었다. 연구 결과에 기초하여 실천해야 할 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the health of families with developmental disabilities who have an important influence on family care, focusing on the fact that the lives of people with developmental disabilities in Korea are more informal than on the public support system. In-depth interviews with seven parents of adults with developmental disabilities were conducted to investigate the effect of disability on family health through the subcomponents of family health, such as ‘family ties’, ‘communication, problem solving’ and ‘family value system’. The results of the study show that family ties are strengthened by the understanding, consideration and mutual effort of the members in the face of various problems related to the development status, type of disability and life cycle of disabled children. Second, communication is a key element of family health, and it is a process of continuous efforts to resolve family conflicts by freely exchanging opinions, finding creative alternatives, and sharing decisions. Third, families with disabilities face a variety of crises, including children without disabilities and the disabilities acceptance of disabled people, but families often respond in a positive way with common efforts and responsibility. Fourth, the idea that the value system of the family members of the developmentally disabled is not fixed, but important to life is consistent, and that interests and hobbies, rules and values are created together. Suggestions to be put into practice based on the results of the study.
