자해 청소년의 ETC 기반 미술치료 체험에 관한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 표현치료연속체(Expressive Therapies Continuum: ETC)를 기반으로 한 자해 청소년의 미술치료체험에 관한 내러티브탐구(Narrative inquiry)이다. 중학생인 내담자는 아버지의 갑작스러운 죽음과 학교부적응으로 자해를 하였다. 본 연구자는 ETC의 각 요소별 치료가 자해청소년에게 통합적으로 접근할 수 있다고 보고 ETC로 접근을 하였고 그 치료과정을 진솔하게 탐구하고 싶었다. 2020년 2월부터 2020년 6월까지 주 1회씩 총 20회기가 진행되었다. 본 연구 결과를 보면 첫째, 인지적 요소로 방어하던 내담자가 ETC의 동적, 감각적, 지각적, 정서적 요소를 통해 자해경험의 접촉과 탐구를 시도하였다. 둘째, ETC의 인지적, 상징적 요소와 창조적 수준을 통해 자해에 대한 새로운 경험과 이해를 하게 되었다. 특히 창조적 수준에서는 비상하는 나비의 상징을 통해 희망적인 미래를 표현하였다. 무엇보다 ETC를 기반으로 한 미술치료를 통해 자해하던 청소년의 자해가 감소한 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 내담자가 책임과 주어진 역할에 대해서 벗어나려고 했던 태도를 인지하게 되며 재도전을 하려는 용기가 생긴 것은 내담자에게도 치료자에게도 재탄생의 의미와 기회가 되었다.

영문 초록

This study is a Narrative Inquiry on the Art Therapy Experience of Self-harming Adolescents based on the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC). The client, who is a middle school student, committed self-harm due to his father s sudden death and maladjustment to school. The researcher considered that the treatment of each component of ETC could have an integrated approach to self-harmed adolescents, and took an integrated approach and wanted to contain the treatment process sincerely. From February 2020 to June 2020, a total of 20 sessions were held once a week. According to the results of this study, first, the client, who was defending at the cognitive level, attempted to contact and explore the self-harm experience through the kinesthetic, sensory, perceptual, and emotional components of ETC. Second, through the cognitive, symbolic components, and creative level of ETC, a new experience and understanding of self-harm has been gained. In particular, at the creative level, a hopeful future was expressed through the symbol of a flying butterfly. Above all, art therapy based on ETC showed that the client’s self-harm decreased. In addition, being aware of the attitude that the client tried to escape from the responsibility and the given role, and the courage to challenge again, became a meaning and opportunity for rebirth for both the client and the therapist.
