이황의 表箋과 上樑文

국문 초록

본고는 퇴계집 권44에 수록된 表箋과 上樑文 작품을 중심으로 퇴계의 騈文이 지닌 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 영토 분쟁을 둘러싼 명나라와의 외교의 장에서 작성된 퇴계의 表箋은 어떠한 외교적 메세지를 담고 있으며 그 목적의식은 달성되었을까. 경복궁 화재 후 동궁과 사정전의 중건 후 작성된 두 상량문은 국가 경영과 관련된 어떠한 중요한 이념을 담고 있으며 그 사회문화적 기능은 무엇이었을까. 국왕의 선물 하사 받은 후 올린 謝箋과 관직의 제수를 완곡하게 거부하는 辭命箋에서 퇴계는 어떠한 레토릭으로 자신에 기대어 자신의 謝意와 謙退의 뜻을 적절히 표현했을까. 본고는 이러한 의문을 바탕으로 퇴계집에 수록된 다음과 같은 퇴계의 변문 작품을 분석하기로 한다. 表文으로는 조선과 명 사이의 긴요한 외교 사안에 대해 외교용 표전으로서 작성된 ｢夾江禁耕謝恩表｣, ｢謄黃謝恩表｣을 분석한다. 箋文으로는 55세 되던 1555년 2월 병으로 사직하고 고향으로 돌아간 후 명종이 음식물을 하사한 것에 대해 올린 ｢謝賜食物箋｣, 70세 되던 1570년 치사를 청하기 위해 정월, 3월, 9월 세 차례 올린 세 편의 ｢乞致仕箋｣을 검토한다. 상량문으로는 1553년 9월 경복궁에 화재가 난 후 이듬해 동궁과 사정전이 중건될 때 제진한 ｢東宮上樑文｣과 ｢思政殿上樑文｣을 분석한다.

영문 초록

This article explores T’oegye s pianli-wen (駢儷文) writings focused on Biaojian (表箋) and Shangliang-wen (上樑文) included in his Collection of Toegye’s Works. What was the diplomatic message contained in his Biaojian works written in the chapters of diplomacy with the Ming Dynasty over territorial disputes, and was the purpose achieved? What was the ideology for state management contained in the two Shangliang-wen writings composed after the reconstruction of the Tonggung Hall and Sajŏongjŏn Hall after the fire at Kyŏngbokgung Palace and what were their socio-cultural functions? What were his rhetorical strategies in his Xiejian (謝箋, letter of gratitude) with which he expressed his gratitude for the king s gift, and in his Cimingjian (辭命箋, letter of rejection of the order) with which he obliquely refused to accept the official position? Based on these questions, this article analyzes the following Toegye s pianli-wen works contained in in his Collection of Toegye’s Works. Among Biao-wen (表文), we will look into “夾江禁耕謝恩表” and “謄黃謝恩表” both written as diplomatic documents on important diplomatic issues between Chosŏn and Ming. Among Biao-wen (箋文), we will consider “謝賜食物箋” with which he expressed his gratitude for King Myŏngjong s offering of food after his resigning in February 1555, at the age of 55, and series of “乞致仕箋” which were submitted three times i.e. January, March and September in 1570 at his age of 70 to clarify his resignation. Among Shangliang-wen, we will analyze “東宮上樑文” and “思政殿上樑文” that were compoesd when the Tonggung Hall and Sajŏongjŏn Hall were reconstructed in September 1553.
