신문사설에 나타난 교사에 대한 인식과 태도 연구 : 정권교체와 교육정책을 토대로

국문 초록

본 연구는 신문사설에서의 정권교체와 주요 교육정책에 따른 우리 사회의 교사에 대한 인식과 태도의 추이가 어떻게 변화해 왔는지를 살펴보는 것을 시작으로 우리 사회가 기대하는 교사의 정체성이나 정책의 흐름 등을 분석하는 것이다. 이에 연구자는 1990년 1월부터 2016년 12월까지의 4개 신문사 952개 사설을 분석 자료로 활용했고, 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사에 대한 인식의 변화가 현재로 가까워질수록 부정적 성향을 나타낸다. 집권 정당의 교체나 수시로 변화하는 교육정책보다는 교육에 대한 우리사회의 대중적 인식이나 요구 등에 의해 교사에 대한 인식이 변화했을 가능성이 높다. 이와 같은 복합적 영향은 우리사회의 전통적인 교사의 정체성과 교사의 역할 등에 시대의 흐름에 따른 인식변화에 직·간접적인 영향을 주게 된 것이다. 둘째, 신문사설의 종단 추이에서 교사의 권리적 측면보다는 의무적 측면을 더 중시하는 사회로 변화해 갔기 때문에 앞으로 우리 사회는 교사의 권리 향상을 위한 측면에서 교육정책이 시행된다 할지라도 사회에서 수용될 수 있는 부분이 순탄치 않을 가능성이 높다. 우리사회가 교사에 대한 인식과 태도에 대해서 교사의 핵심적인 정체성을 명료화하기 보다는 혼란스럽게 하는 정책 구도를 유도할 가능성이 높은 가운데 이러한 측면이 교사의 정체성을 불명확하게 하고, 교사의 의무나 역할, 책임 등에 대한 교육 정책을 더욱 강조하는 방향으로 흘러가게 한다. 이에 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 연구자는 앞으로 우리사회에서의 교사에 대한 전반적인 정체성, 역할, 권리·의무적 측면 등의 시사점을 제시했다.

영문 초록

This study has the following purposes to scrutinize how perceptions and attitudes toward teachers in our society have changed and the factors they have been influenced by and to analyze our society’s expectations of the image and the role of teachers. This study utilizes four newspaper editorials of both conservative and progressive tendencies from January, 1990 to December, 2016. First, the closer the change in perception of teachers to the present, the more negative the tendency is. It is highly likely that the perception of teachers has changed due to the public perception or demand of education, rather than the change of the ruling party or the educational policy that changes from time to time. Second, since the longitudinal trend of newspaper editorials has changed to a society that puts more emphasis on the obligatory side rather than the rights side of teachers, in the future, even if the educational policy is implemented in the aspect of improving the rights of teachers, the society can accept it, there is a high possibility that the part there is not smooth. While our society is highly likely to induce a policy structure that confuses teachers core identity rather than clarifying their core identity regarding teachers perceptions and attitudes, this aspect obscures the teacher s identity and makes the teacher s duties, roles, and responsibilities. It flows in the direction of more emphasizing the education policy on the back.
