가부장적 가정환경과 대학생의 양가적 성차별주의의 관계: 성역할 고정관념을 통한 성별의 조절된 매개효과 검증

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 가부장적 가정환경과 양가적 성차별주의의 관계에서 성역할 고정관념과 성별의 역할을 대학생 집단을 중심으로 탐색하고자 하였다. 구체적으로 가부장적 가정환경과 양가적 성차별주의의 관계가 성역할 고정관념에 의해 매개되는지, 가부장적 가정환경과 성역할 고정관념의 관계가 성별에 의해 차이가 있는지, 성역할 고정관념의 매개효과가 성별에 의해 조절되는지를 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 위해 이공계 대학의 학부생 및 대학원생 총 218명(남자=158, 여자=60)이 연구에 참여하였다. 연구문제 분석을 위해서는 SPSS Process Macro Model을 사용하였다. 그 결과, 가부장적 가정환경은 성역할 고정관념을 매개로 양가적 성차별주의와 관련되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 가부장적 가정환경과 성역할 고정관념의 관계는 성별에 의해 조절되었는데 가부장적 가정환경과 성역할 고정관념의 관계는 남성에게만 유의하게 나타났고, 여성에게는 유의한 관련이 없었다. 마찬가지로, 가부장적 가정환경이 성역할 고정관념을 매개로 양가적 성차별주의에 미치는 간접효과는 남성의 경우에만 유의했다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 개인의 성차별적 태도와 인식 개선을 위한 개입에 있어 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The present study investigated the roles of gender role stereotypes and gender in the relationship between a patriarchal family environment and ambivalent sexism among university students. Specifically, this study examined the mediating effect of gender role stereotypes on the relationship between a patriarchal family environment and ambivalent sexism. Also, gender was tested for a moderating effect on the relationship between a patriarchal family environment and gender role stereotypes. Gender was further tested as a moderator of the indirect effect of gender role stereotypes. Participants were 210 undergraduate and graduate students (males=158, females=60) from a science and engineering university. Data were analyzed using the SPSS Process macro. As a result, the relationship between a patriarchal family environment and ambivalent sexism was found to be mediated by gender role stereotypes. Also, the relationship between patriarchal family environment stress and gender role stereotypes was moderated by gender, in which the link was significant only for males. Finally, a Patriarchal family environment was indirectly related to ambivalent sexism through gender role stereotypes only for male participants. Results are discussed in terms of interventions to change individuals’ sexist attitudes and perceptions.
