셰익스피어의『리어왕』을 활용한 노인연극 질적 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 『리어왕』텍스트를 활용한 노인연극이 연구 참여자들에게 어떠한 반응과변화가 관찰되는지 분석함으로써 그 경험의 의미와 본질을 탐구하는 것이다. 이를 위해, Creswell(2018)의 연구방법에 따라 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석으로 분석하였다. 자료 분석에 따른 연구결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여자들은 ‘나’가 아닌 ‘다른 사람’이 되어보는 연극체험을 통해 나와 타자를 더 깊이 이해할 수 있었다. 둘째, 참여자들은 ‘능동적 행위자’ 로서 자기성찰과 통찰을 체험할 수 있었다. 셋째, 참여자들은 ‘가족관’에 대한 사고방식의 변화를 체험할 수 있었다. 넷째, 참여자들은 ‘공동체에 대한 유대감’을 성공적 노년기의 젓요한요소로 인식하게 되었다. 다섯째, 참여자들은 리어왕을 활용한 창의적 연극 만들기 과정을 통해‘심미적 체험’으로서의 연극예술을 경험할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 『리어왕』 텍스트를 활용한 노인연극은 노년기의 삶에 대한 방향을 설교나 감상보다는 행위화를 통해 자기경험의 재구성과정을 거침으로써 성찰적 사고와 긍정적 인식의 변화에 도움이 된다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and essence of the experience by analyzing how the reactions and changes are observed by the senior theatre using the text of “King Lear”. For this study, it was analyzed as case-in-case and case-of-case according to Creswell s research method. The result of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the participants could understand ‘me and others’ deeply and better through the theatrical experience of becoming not ‘me’ but ‘someone else’. Second, the participants could experience self-reflection and self-insight as ‘active actors’. Third, the participants could experience mind-set changing on their family consciousness. Fourth, the participants perceived ‘a sense of community bond’ as an important aspect for the successful life of old ages. Fifth, the participants could experience the theatrical art as the ‘aesthetic experience’ through the creative process of making a play using the text of “King Lear”. Consequently, it can be seen that the senior theatre using the text of King Lear helps the reflection of thoughts and positive perceptions through the process of reconstructing self-experience through acting rather than preaching or appreciating the direction of life in old age
