국문 초록

본 논문은 권력에서 주체로 이행하던 시기의 푸코 작업을 추적한다. 권력과 주체 사이에 콜레주 드 프랑스 강의록들을 배치함으로써, 우리는 푸코 작업의 재편성이 어떤 방식으로 이루어졌는지, 권력과 주체가 어떻게 분절되는지 추적할 수 있다. 이 추적의 끝에서 우리는 ‘자발적 예속화’의 문제와 마주칠 것이다. 이어서 동일한 시기에 권력과 주체에 대한 탐구 이면에서 이루어진 철학에 대한 성찰에 대해 살펴본다. 주체로의 이행 속에서 푸코는 새로운 관점에서 철학에 접근하고, 그 결과물로 ‘철학적 에토스’를 제시한다. 권력과 주체에 대한 작업을 염두에 두었을 때, 철학적 에토스는 자발적 예속화에 대한 푸코의 최종적인 답변으로 이해할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper studies the change of topic in Foucault’s study: from the power to the subject. There are two reasons for choosing this topic. First, relation between Foucault’s concept of the power and the subject is unclear. By referring Foucault’s Lectures at the College de France, it is possible to find out how the power and the subject are articulated. This discussion will lead us to the problem of spontaneous subjection. Second, at the time of studying the power and the subject, Foucault reflected on the relation between his work and philosophy. The change of focus from the power to the subject is also found in his reflection on philosophy too. After reflecting on philosophy, Foucault proposes one philosophical attitude which is called ‘philosophical ethos’. It is an autonomous subjectivation, the approach which is against spontaneous subjection.
