국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 우리나라 최초의 정부인가 교과서라 할 만한 현공렴 발행의 가정교과서의 외형적·내용적 측면과 함께 발행인 등 교과서가 발간되기까지의 배경을 분석하고, 이들 가정교과서의 母本에 해당하는 일본의 가정교과서와 그 교과서의 저자에 대하여 살펴보는데 있다. 구체적인 연구결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 1. 학부는 『교과용도서일람』을 발간함으로써 수업시간에 사용할 수 있는 교과서와 사용할 수 없는 교과서를 구별하였다. 가정교과서 역시 예외가 아니어서, 1910년 현재 학부 인가 가정교과서는 현공렴 발행의 『漢文家政學』과 『新編家政學』이지만, 1912년에 들어서면 이 교과서는 불인가교과서가 되며, 1914년에는 불인가 가정교과서 목록에 현공렴 발행의 『新訂家政學』이 추가된다. 2. 정부 인가 및 불인가 교과서를 발행한 현공렴은 조선전기부터 유명한 역관집안 출신이었다. 당시의 역관은 외국어에 능통하다는 이점으로 외국의 서적을 조선의 지식층에게 소개하는 가교적 역할을 하였다. 3. 현공렴이 발행한 『漢文家政學』, 『新編家政學』, 『新訂家政學』은 목차를 비교해 볼 때 거의 동일하다. 그런데 이 교과서는 1902년 7월 즈음에 중국에서 吳汝綸에 의해 발행되었고, 이 교과서를 현공렴이 1907년 12월 조선에서 한문본 『한문가정학』과 국한문본 『신편가정학』으로 발행하였다. 오여륜이 발행한 가정교과서의 母本은 1900년 시모다 우타코(下田歌子)에 의해 발행된 『新選家政學』상하권이다. 4. 현공렴 발행의 가정교과서는 총론’, 家人의 감독’, 一家의 風範’, 위생’, 一家의 재정’ 등 5단원으로 구성되었으며, 이러한 내용은 그 모본에 해당하는 시모다의 『신선가정학』교과내용과 상당한 차이를 보인다. 이 차이는 중국에서 발행된 오여륜에 의해 이루어졌다. 5. 家政 교과서에 나타난 家庭은 ①국가의 기본단위로서의 가정, ②교육의 장으로서의 가정, ③휴식의 장으로서의 가정, ④소비의 장으로서의 가정으로 요약된다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the Textbook of Home Economics published by Hyun Kong-Ryeom(玄公廉)’ that was the first textbook approved by the Korean Government and also disapproved by the Japanese Government. The results of the study are summarized as follows. 1. The Korean Government appointed the textbooks used in school. The textbooks of home economics appointed in 1910 were 『Hanmun Gajeonghak(漢文家政學)』and 『Sinpyeon Gajeonghak(新編家政學) 』. But Japanese government disapproved these textbooks soon after it fully controlled Korea. 2. Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ who published the textbook of home economics was from translator family that was famous since early Chosun Dynasty. The translator at that time with good command of foreign language introduced foreign books to the intellectuals of Chosun Dynasty. The textbook of home economics was also translated at that time. 3. 『Hanmun Gajeonghak』, 『Sinpyeon Gajeonghak』and 『Sinjeong Gajeonghak(新訂家政學)』published by Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ were the translations of the same book. Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ published the 『Hanmun Gajeonghak』written in Chinese character and 『Sinpyeon Gajeonghak』written in Korean and Chinese character in combination in December 1907, which were translations of the textbook of home economics published by Oh Yeo Ryoon(吳汝綸)’ in China in July 1902. The textbook of Oh Yeo Ryoon’ was the Chinese translation of the 『Sinseon Gajeonghak(新選家政學)』that was published by Shimoda Utako(下田歌子)’ in Japan in 1900. 4. The textbook of home economics written by Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ was composed of five units, that is, general introduction, management of family members, family norms, family hygiene and home economy. The composition of the book by Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ was quite different from that of 『Sinseon Gajeonghak』by Shimoda Utako’. This difference was made in the textbook of home economics of Oh Yeo Ryoon’. 5. The characteristics of home in the textbook of home economics by Hyun Kong-Ryeom’ were summarized as follows. ①Home as a national basic unit, ②Home for education, ③Home for rest, ④Home for the consumption.
