사이버대학교 성인학습자의 질문 내용 및 수준과 학업성취 도의 관계 분석: 수업질의응답 게시판을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 사이버대학 성인학습자들의 질문 내용과 수준 등의 특성을 파악하고 그 질문의 특성에 따른 학업성취 수준과의 관련성을 파악하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2017년부터 2018년 1학기까지 세 학기 동안 A사이버대학에서 동일한 과목을 수강한 성인학습자 1,306명을 대상으로 이들이 수업질의응답 게시판에 올린 질문의 횟수, 질문의 내용과 수준을 내용 분석하였으며 성별과 학년에 따른 질문의 특성을 분석한 후 중간·기말고사 점수 및 학기 전과목 평점과 비교하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 질의응답 게시판에서의 질의 여부, 질의 횟수, 질의 내용과 수준을 살펴본 결과, 한 학기 동안 질의응답게시판에 1회 이상 질문을 게시한 학생은 26% 정도로 낮은 비율을 나타냈다. 질문 내용은 수업 관련 질문(49.6%)이 가장 많았고, 질문 수준(회상-재구성-적용-확장)에 있어서는 재구성(47.4%) 질문이 가장 많았다. 둘째, 성별과 학년(1,2학년, 3,4학년)에 따른 차이를 분석한 결과, 여학생들이 남학생들에 비해서, 질문에 참여한 비율이 높았고, 수업 관련 내용의 비율도 높았으며, 질문의 수준도 더 높게 나타났다. 저학년과 고학년 학생들의 경우에는 고학년 학생들의 질문 참여 비율이 높았고, 수업 관련 질문의 비율이 높았으나, 질문의 수준에서는 유의미한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 마지막으로, 학업성취와의 관계를 분석하였는데, 질문 참여 여부 및 횟수와 학업 성취 간에 긍정적인 관련성이 발견되었고, 질문 내용 및 수준 역시 학업성취와 통계적으로 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 사이버대학 학생들의 학습 과정을 이해하고, 보다 효과적인 수업 설계를 위한 기초 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of the questions of adult learners in cyber universities, and to find out the relationship between academic achievement levels according to the characteristics of the questions. To this end, we analyzed 1,306 adult learners who had taken the same courses at a cyber-university during the three semesters from 2017 to 2018, and analyzed the number of questions posted on the Q & A bulletin board, and the contents and levels of them. The characteristics of the questions were analyzed according to gender and grade, and compared with the midterm and final exam scores and the whole semester grades. As a result of the analysis, first, the participation to the Q & A bulletin board, the number of questions, the content and level of the them showed that 26% of the students posted more than one question on the Q & A bulletin board during the semesters. The most frequently asked questions were class-related questions (49.6%) among the categories of questions contents, and reconstruction (47.4%) at the question level (recall-reconstruction-apply-extension). Second, as a result of analyzing the differences according to gender and grades (grades 1&2 vs. 3&4), female students participated in questions more than males, and posted higher percentages of class-related contents, and higher levels of questions. In the case of lower grades versus higher grades, the higher grade students participated in the question more, posted more questions related to the class. There, however, was no significant difference in the level of questions. Lastly, the relationship between the contents and levels of questions and students’ academic achievement was analyzed. A positive relationship was found between the participation and the number of questions and the academic achievement. The content and level of the question also showed a statistically significant relationship with academic achievement. These results may be helpful to understand the learning process of cyber university students and to provide information for more effective class design.
