미국의 기술과 교육 경향 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 미국의 각 주에서 고시한 기술 교과 내용 기준들을 살펴보고 이들 기준이 한국의 기술 교과 교육 내용 구성에 어떠한 시사점을 줄 수 있는지를 탐색하기 위해 수행 되었다. 이를 위하여 미국의 국가 교육 목표 위원회(NEGP), 주 교육감 위원회(CCSSO), 미국 교사 연합(AFT) 등이 제시하는 교육 기준이 갖추어야할 요건들을 분석하였고, ITEA에서 제시한 미국 기술 교과 내용 기준(STL)과 각 주의 기술 교과 내용 기준을 분석하였다. 국가 수준의 교육 내용 기준은 학문적 엄격함을 반영한 내용으로 선정되어야 할 것을 강조하고 있었으며, 좀 더 구체적으로는 세계 수준의 기준, 학문에 기반한 기준, 개인적 적합성, 사회적 적합성, 평가 관련성, 지식과 기능의 균형, 실천 가능성 등의 요건이 제시되고 있었고, 각 주에서 제시한 기술 교과내용 기준은 지식(knowledge)과 과정(process)을 적절하게 결합하는 내용 기준이 주를 이루고 있었다. 이러한 미국의 기술 교과 내용 기준은 한국의 기술 교과 교육 내용을 구성하고 선정하는데 참고사항이 될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines the implications of Technology Education Academic Standards of America for the criteria of Korean Technology Education content. For this study, I studied the quality standards proposed by the following research institutes: the National Education Goal, the Council of Chief State Schools Officers and American Federation of Teacher, and analyzed Standards for Technological Literacy proposed by International Technology Education Association and Technology Education content standards by nine different states. Two aspects are recommended through this consideration. One is that the national technology education goal emphasizes on the criteria based on the strict academic standards as follows: world class standards, discipline-based standards, relevance for students, relevance for society, relation to educational evaluation, the balance of knowledge and skill, feasibility. The other is that the technology education criteria suggested by nine different states feature the successful combination of knowledge and process. This study concludes Technology Education Academic Standards of America can be good guides for the criteria of Korean Technology Education content.
