대학생들의 장애유형에 따른 태도 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 정신장애인과 정신지체인에 대한 태도의 차별성을 중심으로 세 장애유형(신체장애인, 정신장애인, 정신지체인)간 태도의 질적 차이를 분석해 보고자 실시되었다. 총 219명의 남ㆍ여 대학생들이 본 연구에 참여하였고 일반인의 태도를 측정하는 SADP를 수정하여 사용하였다. 연구의 주요 분석 대상은 장애유형별, 하위척도별, 그리고 직업관련 항목 및 관련변인들을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 일반적으로 신체장애인은 정신지체인과 정신장애인에 비하여 태도점수가 유의미하게 높았으나 정신장애인과 정신지체인 간에는 차이가 없었다. 그러나 장애유형별로 SADP의 각 문항을 비교ㆍ분석해 본 결과, 총 10개 문항에서 유의미한 차이가 발견되었고, 정신장애인과 정신지체인 간의 문항비교에서는 낙관-인권(OH)척도와 행동-오해(BM)척도의 총 4문항에서 유의미한 차이가 발견되었다. 정신장애인과 정신지체인에 대한 인식 차이는 두 장애유형 간 차별적 변별이 나타날 수 있다는 가능성을 시사하며, 장애인에 대한 부정적 인식은 사회적 법적 요구에서 부정적인 행동으로 이어질 수 있고 직업재활의 효율성과 효과성에 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구에서 여학생은 남학생보다 장애인에 대한 태도접수가 높았고, 긍정적인 접촉경험은 장애유형을 불문하고 태도접수가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 장애인에 대한 태도연구는 특수교육 및 재활프로그램의 효율성 및 효과성을 평가할 때 인식에 관한 기초 정보를 제공해 준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate Students attitudes toward people with different types of disability. focusing on the mental and the mentally retarded disabilities. A total of 219 Korean students participated in this study. Scale of Attitudes for the Disabled Persons(SADP) was modified to differentiate the types of disability as follows: physical. mental. and mentally retarded disabilities. The results of the study indicated that people with physical disabilities were rated more favorably than those with the mental and the mentally retarded disabilities in general. but no difference was found between individuals with mental disabilities and those with mental retardation. Qualitative item analysis of the SADP resulted in a total of 10 item differences according to the types of disabilities. and a total of 4 items were founded to be a statistical significance in the domains of OH and BM sub-scales, suggesting a possible differential discrimination between the mental and the mentally retarded disabilities. Women scored more than men did in the attitudinal measure, and a positive contact experience tended to induce more favorable attitudes toward people with disabilities regardless of the types of disability. Attitude study provides an important knowledge base for an evaluation of the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs in special education and rehabilitation.
