인정의 교육효과 분석 : 초·중학생의 학교폭력 및 학교기피에 대한 대안적 접근

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 우리나라 학교폭력 및 학교기피 문제에 대한 대안으로써 인정의 교육적 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해『한국교육종단연구2013』2∼5차년도 데이터를 활용하여 학생들의 인정, 학교폭력, 학교기피의 종단적 변화 형태를 파악한 후, 인정이 학교폭력 및 학교기피에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석방법으로는 분석변인들의 변화 형태를 추적하고 이들 간의 관계를 파악할 수 있는 잠재성장모형(latent growth modeling: LGM)을 활용하였다. 인정이 학교폭력에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 인정 초기값은 학교폭력 초기값, 일차변화율, 이차변화율 모두에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 초등학교 6학년 때 학생들의 인정 수준이 낮을수록, 학교폭력 수준이 높았고, 이후 학년이 올라감에 따라 학교폭력은 더 많이 증가하였으나, 그 증가폭은 점점 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 인정의 일차변화율은 학교폭력의 일차변화율에만 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 인정이 감소할수록 학교폭력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 인정의 이차변화율은 학교폭력의 이차변화율에 부적 영향력을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 인정이 학교기피에 미치는 영향력은 인정이 학교폭력에 미치는 영향과 정확하게 동일한 양상을 보였다. 본 연구는 혐오의 일상화가 유발한 학교폭력과 학교기피의 문제를 해결함에 있어 인정이 교육적 효과가 있음을 실증적으로 규명하였다는 점에서 학문적·실천적 의의가 있다. 모든 학생들이 서로를 동등한 인간으로 존중하고, 서로의 다름과 개인의 고유한 가치와 능력을 인정하며, 인정공동체 안에서 각자가 성공적으로 자아실현을 이루기 있도록 돕기 위해서는, 혐오와 차별, 배제를 유발하는 현행의 신자유주의 학교교육체제에서 탈피하여, 학생들의 창의성과 다양성이 존중되고 신뢰와 협력을 통해 교육의 질을 제고할 수 있는 방식으로 학교제도와 평가체제가 개선될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of mutual recognition on school violence and school avoidance in South Korea. The data for this study was drawn from the second through fifth surveys of Korean Education Longitudinal Study of 2013, conducted by Korean Educational Development Institute. Latent growth modeling was employed as the analytic method to track and analyze longitudinal changes and relationships of mutual recognition, school violence and school avoidance. Results obtained by analyzing the effects of mutual recognition on school violence and school avoidance indicated that the higher the students’ initial level of mutual recognition, the lower the initial level of school violence. The initial level of mutual recognition is positively associated with the increase in school violence and negatively associated with the rate of its increase. Decreases in mutual recognition is associated with the increase in school violence. The effect of mutual recognition on school avoidance has proved to be exactly similar to that of on school violence. This study has academic and practical implications in that the effects of mutual recognition as a remedy for school violence and school avoidance, which caused widespread disgust in schools, are empirically proved. In order to ensure that all students respect each other as an equal human being, recognize each other s differences, individual s unique values and abilities to achieve successful self-realization within the community of mutual recognition, the current competitive school education and evaluation systems need to be restructured so as to encourage creativity, appreciation of diversity, and enhances the quality of education through trust and collaboration.
