용서와 폭력의 교환 경제

국문 초록

용서의 문제와 관련하여, 데리다는 장켈레비치의 조건적 용서 개념에 맞서 무조건적 용서 개념을 주장한 바 있다. 하지만 조건적 용서 대 무조건적 용서라는 이 단순한 대립 구도는 용서의 행위를 둘러싼 철학적, 개념적 문제를 올바로 사유하는 데 적절한 안내 역할을 하기 어렵다. 우리는 이 논문에서 이러한 단순 대립구도를 넘어서 용서가 내포하는 개념적 문제를 다시 사유하기 위해서 니체의 계보학적 논의를 경유하고자 한다. 이를 통해서 법 질서로 대표되는 포괄적인 의미에서의 교환 경제는 자연적 폭력을 본질적으로 변형하는 창조적 노력으로 이해될 수 있다는 점이 드러날 것이며, 용서는 다시 이러한 교환 경제 자체의 초월로서 자리매김될 수 있다는 점 또한 밝혀질 것이다. 이러한 고찰은 데리다적인 무조건적 용서와 장켈레비치의 조건적 용서 사이의 대립을 넘어 용서의 조건들과 이 조건들의 초월로서의 용서 간의 관계로 우리를 인도할 것이다. 이는 현재 처벌 불가능해 보이는 폭력들을 처벌할 수 있는 새로운 교환 경제 형태의 끊임없는 발명을 향하는 동시에 그러한 교환 경제를 다시 초월하는 용서의 사건 또한 인정하는 입장이다.이에 따를 때, 장켈레비치의 표면적 주장과 달리 처벌 불가능한 범죄는 존재하지 않지만, 또한 데리다의 표면적 주장과 달리 조건적 용서는 이미 그 자체로 무조건적 용서와 구분되지 않는다. 결국, 인간의 역사는 어떠한 용서불가능하고 처벌불가능한 범죄나 어떠한 무조건적 용서에 의해 중단되지 않으며, 반대로 폭력과 용서의 양극적 긴장에 의해 짜이는 직물이다.

영문 초록

On the question of forgiveness, Derrida argued for the concept of unconditional forgiveness against the concept of conditional forgiveness. However, this simple confrontation between conditional forgiveness and unconditional forgiveness is difficult to serve as an adequate guide to properly examine the philosophical and conceptual issues surrounding forgiveness. We want to examine Nietzsche s genealogy of morals in order to rethink the conceptual problems involved in forgiveness beyond this simple confrontation. In this way, we can see that the exchange economy in a comprehensive sense, represented by legal order, can be understood as a creative enterprise that essentially transforms natural violence, and that forgiveness can in turn be positioned as a transcendence of this exchange economy itself. These considerations will lead us from the seemingly simple confrontation between unconditional forgiveness and conditional forgiveness to a relationship between the conditions of forgiveness and forgiveness transcending these conditions. It is a position to recognize the event of forgiveness that transcends such an exchange economy, as well as the endless inventions of the new form of exchange economy that can now punish the seemingly unpunishable violations. According to this, there is no such non-punishable crime of Jankelevitch, but contrary to Derrida’s assertion, conditional forgiveness is already indistinguishable from unconditional forgiveness. In the end, human history is not interrupted by unforgivable offenses, not punishable or by unconditional forgiveness, and on the contrary, it is a fabric that is woven by the double tension of violence and forgiveness.
