국문 초록

청소년기는 인생에 중요한 선택인 직업이나 대학의 학과를 정하는 결정적인 시기이다. 이를 반영하듯 청소년들은 진로문제를 학업이나 교우관계 못지않게 중요한 문제로 보고 있으며 자신의 진로에 대한 명확한 인식을 하지 못하는 경우 방황과 갈등의 시간을 보내게 된다(김종운, 최미숙, 2011; 양미진, 허지영, 채민정, 김경민, 2010; 이미애, 최명숙, 최성열, 2011; 허정철, 2009). 진로교육은 평생 동안 살아가면서 자신의 생애를 결정하는 전 과정에서 직업세계에 대한 전반적인 이해를 바탕으로 계획적이고 목적지향적인 삶을 살아가도록 지원하는 것을 말한다(김옥, 강승호, 2010; 배은자, 2006; National Career Development Association, 2011). 진로교육에서는 학생 자신의 진로를 창의적으로 개발하고 지속적으로 발전시켜 성숙한 민주시민으로서 행복한 삶을 살아갈 수 있는 역량을 기르는 것을 교육의 전체목표로 삼고 있다(교육과학기술부, 2012; 임경수, 2012; 한국직업능력개발원, 2010).

영문 초록

This study aims to examine how visual culture art education classes affect in forming self-identity of high school students, hence helping their career exploration and choice. For this purpose, this study developed and implemented the visual culture art education classes for 12 Korean high school students residing in China, Guangzhou who participated in 25 sessions of the classes, making individual portfolio of their art works with the themes of self-identity exploration, their own social and cultural surroundings, and their future careers. To analyze the results of the research questions, this study collected their art works, and their works commentary, their reflective journal, and teacher observation journals, and showed positive affects on both the formation of their self-identity and career choice. The results of the study, therefore, indicate mutually close relationship between visual culture art education and career education for youth in terms of their purpose, objectives and features, and further to emphasize the important and effective role and function of the visual culture art education in forming self-identity and career selection of the youth.
