국문 초록

창의인재 육성은 이제 우리 사회의 키워드가 되고 있다. 기업과 대학뿐만 아니라 학교 교육의 방향과 목표가 ‘창의인’ 즉 ‘새로운 발상과 도전으로 창의성을 발휘하는 사람’에 초점이 맞추어지고 있는 것이다(박순경, 2010). 우리나라의 교육 특히 미술교 육 안에서 창의성은 전혀 새로울 것이 없음에도 불구하고, 최근의 확산되고 있는 논 의에서 이 용어가 융복합 교육과 밀접한 관련성을 가지고 함께 논의되고 있다는 점은 주목할 만하다. 이는 지속적으로 융합되고 있는 테크놀로지의 진화와 세계화를 통해 진행되는 혼성 문화 등 피부로 느끼는 사회, 경제, 문화, 정치의 변화가 ‘융복합’의 개 념과 맞물려 있기 때문이다. 또한 미래 사회에 대한 전망들은 융복합 교육이 시간이 지나면 사라질 또 다른 교육 트렌드가 아닌 학교 교육이 전제하고 있는 지식관과 학 습관에 있어 근본적인 변화를 요구하는 것임을 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to shed light on the role and possibility of art education based on the prospect for the accelerating social change and future education. The problems and limitations of modern school system are felt widely in the theory and practice of education. In the search of alternatives, creativity and convergence have become the key to the new concept of education that would enable future students to deal with complex problems. Especially, convergence education is considered as the means for overcoming the fragmentation and meaninglessness of knowledge and learning. In the respect, this study raises the following questions: What role can art education play in future convergence education that places an emphasis on creativity? In what direction, should art education change in regard with cognitive development and convergence? This study examines the limitations of school education in association with the prospect of changing future society. Based on the diagnosis of modern educational system that was molded to serve the industrial society, convergence education is conceptualized as a pedagogical effort beyond integrated education. Then this study investigates how art education can take an important part in forming convergent thinking. Specifically, imagination, integrated cognition, relational thinking and empathy are discussed as the essential factors that help students cross the borders of academic epistemology and connect a wide range of knowledge in different disciplines.
