‘우수수업 상’ 수상 교수의 수업유형과 특성에 대한 문화기술적 연구

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 수업관찰을 통하여, ‘성공적 대학수업’의 유형과 특징을 찾아보았다. 또한 이러한 특징을 대학생 및 교수, 교수학습개발센터 연구원이 인식하는 성공적 대학수업의 특징과 비교하여 공통점과 차이점을 찾고, 이는 어떤 의미를 갖는 지 논의하였다. 이를 위하여, ‘우수수업 상’을 받았거나 기타 방법으로 ‘성공적 수업’이라고 판단된 50개 수업에 대한 서술적 관찰과 각 수업의 교수 및 학생 2-4명과의 면담, 그리고 대학생 156명 및 교수/연구원 74명 대상의 서술형 설문조사를 실시하였다. 또한 수업관찰결과를 수업구조분석방법을 사용하여 분석하고, 이를 다시 더 단순화시킨 수업모형의 형태로 재분석하여, 16가지의 수업유형을 다음과 같이 찾아내었다. Ⅰ. 교수 중심 수업(5 가지). Ⅱ. 학생의 참여가 포함되는 교수 중심 수업(5 가지). Ⅲ. 교수와 학생 상호작용 중심 수업(6 가지). 이러한 연구의 결과 성공적 대학수업의 다섯 가지 공통적인 특징을 발견하였으며, 이를 토대로 대학수업의 개선을 위한 제언을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify typology and characteristics of “successful” college teaching in Korea. The research procedure is as follows: 1) I trained students of three classes to do narrative observation of teaching and interviews. 2) These students observed 50 classes of professors who either had received best teaching awards or were recommended as successful teachers by the teaching-learning centers of each university. 3) They also conducted interviews with the professors and 2-4 students from each of these 50 classes. 4) An open-ended questionnaire was conducted with 156 students and 74 professors and researchers. 5) Analysis of active learning time(time on task) during a class and analysis of structure of a class were conducted. 6) The structure of each class was re-analyzed and simplified to identify basic teaching models. As a result, the teaching procedure of 50 classes were classified into 16 models(5 to 6 models of these three types - 1) teacher-centered, 2) teacher-centered with a touch of interaction, 3) interaction-centered). Five common characteristics of these classes were also identified. Based on these results, suggestions were made for the improvement of college teaching.
