디지털교과서를 위한 인지적 스캐폴딩 설계 원리 개발: 6학년 수학 분수단원을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 학습자들이 수학과 디지털교과서를 이용해 자기주도적 학습을 할 때 겪는 어려움과 문제점들을 분석하고 디지털교과서를 위한 인지적 스캐폴딩 설계 원리를 도출하기 위한 목적으로 실행되었다. 두 학교에서 선발된 18명의 초등학교 6학년 학생들이 실험에 참가하였다. 학생들은 사전 검사를 통해 상, 중, 하의 세 수준으로 나뉘어졌으며, 각 그룹에서 3명씩 선발되었다. 학생들은 ‘분수의 나눗셈’에 대한 1, 2차시를 자기주도적으로 학습하였다. 학생들은 학습을 진행하는 동안 자신의 생각이나 느낌을 말로 표현하도록(think aloud) 요구되었다. 연구자들은 학습자들의 학습을 관찰하고 학습진행에 필요시 도움을 제공하였다. 학생들의 학습 과정은 비디오로 녹화되었다. 학습이 끝난 후에는 학습 내용에 대한 이해도를 점검하기 위한 사후검사가 실시되었으며, 이후 학생들이 디지털교과서로 학습하면서 느낀점, 바라는 점, 학습과정에서 겪은 어려움 등에 대한 면접이 실시되었다. 면접 과정도 비디오로 녹화되었으며, 모든 비디오 자료는 스크립트로 작성하고, NVIVO 8.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 실험 결과 대부분의 학생들이 수학과 디지털교과서를 사용하여 자기주도적 학습을 할 때 어려움을 경험했다. 실험에서 나타난 문제점은 수학교과서와 관련된 문제와 디지털교과서 설계상의 문제로 분류하였고, 각 영역에서 나타난 세부적인 문제를 기술하였다. 이를 기초로 문제점들을 해결하기 위한 인지적 스캐폴딩 설계 원리를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study attempted to examine students’ problems and difficulties when they use a Mathematics digital textbook for self-directed learning and to develop the design principles of cognitive scaffolding for the Mathematics digital textbook. Eighteen elementary students participated in this study. Students were selected from three different levels (high, middle, low) in two different schools. Students learned 2 lessons for two days. Researchers observed and videotaped students’ self-learning with a Mathematical digital textbook. Students were asked to think aloud their thoughts and feelings during their learning process. The students were received posttests and interviewed after each learning. They were asked about the problems and difficulties of learning with digital textbooks. All the data from the videotape was transcribed and analyzed by NVIVO 8.0. The result showed that most students experienced the difficulties for their learning with the Mathematics digital textbook due to the problems with mathematics textbook itself and the problems with the digital textbook. The problems and difficulties were described in several categories and design principles for scaffolding for the digital textbook were presented.
