교육운동가를 통해 본 한국의 교육시민운동

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 최근 교육계 내에서 점차 중요성이 증가하고 있는 교육시민운동을 분석함으로 써, 앞으로 전개될 바람직한 교육시민운동의 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성 하기 위해 현재 적극적인 활동을 하고 있는 6명의 교육운동가를 대상으로 심층면담을 통해 교육 시민운동을 연구하였다. 연구결과 대부분의 교육운동가들은 학생운동이나 시민운동을 한 경험이 있었으며 현재 교육시민단체 활동가들의 교육시민운동에 참여유형 및 교육운동가의 정치참여에 대해서는 다양한 관점을 지니고 있었다. 또한 교육운동가들은 시민운동을 하면서 보람과 어려움 을 동시에 느끼고 있었다. 마지막으로 다양한 성향의 교육시민단체의 등장으로 인해서 각 교육운 동가의 전문성 확보 및 자기 관리가 점차 중요시 되고 있었다. 연구자는 이러한 분석결과를 바탕 으로 해서 앞으로 교육시민운동이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study tries to investigate the way in which educational activists view current civic movement in education in Korea. Using interview data of 6 educational activists in education NGOs(Non-Governmental Organizations), we detail the characteristics of educational activists and their views on educational civic movement or education NGOs. We find that almost all educational activists have participated in the college student movement or the civic movement. But, they think most of educational activists become a member of education NGOs for different reasons. It is also common for them to feel satisfied as well as frustrated depending on how successful their policies are implemented and internal tensions among activists are resolved. Finally they emphasize the importance of developing professionalism as educational activists and of well managing their career in the educational civic movement. We discuss the implications of these findings for helping to direct the educational civic movement in the future.
