전주향교 완영책판(完營冊板) 보존현황 및 활용방안

국문 초록

본 연구는 전주향교에 소장되어 있는 完營冊板에 대한 조사연구이다. 완영책판은 조선시대 전라감영에서 서적을 간행할 때 사용하던 책판으로 지금까지 알려진 바로는 『朱子大全』『性理大全』 등 총 11종 4,290판이 보관되어 있었다고 한다. 그러나 실제 조사한 결과 769개가 많은 총 10종 5.059개의 책판이 보존되어 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 전주향교에 소장되어 있는 완영책판의 종류는 『資治通鑑網目』, 『東醫寶鑑』, 『朱子大全』, 『栗谷全書』, 『性理大全』, 『增修無?錄諺解』, 『史記』, 『史略』, 『湖南三網錄』, 『朱書百選』 등 총 10종이다. 이들 서적을 모두 제작할 경우 책판은 10,621개 21.238면이 필요하다. 이를 기준으로 볼 때 장판각 소장 완영책판의 현존율은 책판 47.6%. 面數 46.3%이다. 또한 중복된 면이 219면이므로 실제적인 면수 현존율은 45.2%이다. 육안조사에 의한 충해피해의 정도는 5.51% 258개이며, 90.19%의 책판 4,562개에서는 쪼개짐이나 균열의 피해가 조사되었다. 이런 이유는, 책판 좌우에 있는 마구리를 떼어내는 과정에서 무리한 압력을 가하여 책판과 마구리를 고정하였던 철심부를 중심으로 가로로 쪼개지거나 균열이 발생하였기 때문으로, 마구리의 不存率이 92.2%인 점과 연관되어 있다. 탈첨자와 같은 補刻의 흔적은 2.89%인 292면에서 발견되었으며. 보각한편 4점이 책판 이송과정에서 수습되었다. 복각의 경우 총 216면이 2개 이상 복각되었고, 동일책판이 2개 복각된 것은 213개, 동일책판이 3개 복각된 것은 3개가 각각 보존되어 있다. 완영책판은 조선시대 지방 관청에서 사용한 책판으로는 유일한 것으로 문화재적 가치는 매우 크다. 특히 전라도 지역의 기록문화전통과 연계해 볼 때 완영책판의 효율적인 보존관리와 심도있는 조사연구가 요망된다.

영문 초록

This study researches the publishing circumstances and the woodblocks used in the local government office at Jeollado in Joseon dynasty. Wanyung woodblocks indicate the printing blocks which were used in Jeolla local office. Known so far, there were 11 sorts of 4,290 blocks existing there, including Seongridaejeon and Jujadaejeon. Actually, there has 10 sorts of 5,059 blocks been kept. They are Jachitonggam, Dongeuibogam, Jujadaejeon, Yulgokjeonseo, Seongridaejeon, Jeungsuwonrokeonhae, Sagi, Saryak, Honamsamgangrok, and Juseobaekseon. To print and bind all of the books mentioned above, 10,621 woodblocks and 21,238 pages are needed. Judging from this results, the current existing rate of jangpangak woodblocks is 47.6% of blocks and 46.3% of pages each. Considered the 219 redundant pages, the actual page rate is 45.2%. Damage from insects are investigated as 5.51 % and 90.19% of the woodblocks have been splitted or cracked by the examination of the naked eyes. The woodblocks were splitted or cracked by strong pressure around the nail on them when they were removed, and it had a strong relationship with the absence rate of the handles of them, 92.2%. The traces of added or omitted words were discovered on 292 pages(2.89%), 3 revised letters were collected during transporting them. 216 pages of blocks were newly producted, 213 blocks were redundant, and 3 of them had 3 pages. Wanyung woodblocks are the only blocks that the local government office had in Joseon dynasty, so its value as cultural treasure is enormous. Considering the relationship of Jeonju with the record culture tradition of Jeollado, the effective preservation and maintenance and in-depth study is imperative.
