국문 초록

원환비는 한 개의 독립된 원환이 재갈멈추개의 역할을 하는 특징적인 재갈로서 삼국시대. 특히 6세기대를 중심으로 우리나라 중남부지방에서 유행하였다, 그 형태는 원환 자체 혹은 입문에 따라 다양하나 우리나라의 경우 입문이 없는 正圓形 원환이 주류이다. 그래서 다양한 형태의 입문이 발달한 일본의 원환비와 좋은 대비를 이룬다. 원환비의 출현은 6세기1/4분기에 백제와 (대)가야지역에서 비롯되며 이로부터 신라, 일본으로 전파되면서 기존의 표비나 판비와 더불어 새로운 마장문화를 형성해 나갔다. 원환비의 변화는 함, 인수. 원환 등 각 구성요소와 이들의 연결방법을 통해 살필 수 있다. 각 구성요소의 경우 함은 3연식에서 2연식으로, 인수는 두가닥에서 한가닥으로 변하며 원환은 처음에 크게 제작되다가 점차 크기가 줄어드는 특징이 있다. 또한 철봉의 단면은 원형에서 방형으로 변해 나간다. 원환비에서 가장 주목되는 변화는 이들 구성요소의 연결방법이다. 처음에는 유환이 있고 원환이 함외환에 걸린 형식을 백제와 가야가 공유한다. 그러나 6세기2/4분기를 전후하여 백제에서는 유환이 없는 형식으로의 빠른 변화가 상정되며 이후 이것이 주류를 점한다. 또한 원환은 유환의 유무와 상관없이 함외환에 걸리는 특징이 있다. 이에 비해 가야에서는 일정기간 동안 유환을 더욱 활용한다. 그래서 함외환에 걸려 있던 원환을 유환에 걸기도 하며 때로는 유환의 기능이 극대화된 상황에서 이를 변모, 종국에는 유환을 원환화한 새로운 형식을 채용하기도 하였다. 그러나 이후 가야에서 점차 유환이 없는 형식이 유행하는데, 이를 통해 6세기대백제마구의 가야 확산의 일면을 엿볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

Ring type Bit(圓環?) is a specific bit that an independent Wonhwan(ring, 圓環) plays the role of the bit stopper. In three-kingdom especially 6th century A.D., It was in fashion throughout the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. The form is various according to the Wonhwan or Ipmoon(立聞) but in the case of korea, a round shape Wonhwan without the Ipmoon was the main current. Therefore It was a striking contrast to an aspect in Japan that the Ipmoon developed diversely. The appearance of the Ring type Bit began at 6th 1/4 century A.D. in BaeckJae(百濟) and Gaya(加耶). It was transmited to Silla(新羅) and Japan which It form new horse-culture with existing Pyobi(??) and Panbi(板?). Through the Ham(銜), Insoo(引手), Wonhwan and so on components and these linking methods, We can look into the change of Ring type Bit. The case of each component, Ham changed Samyeonsik(三連式) to Eyeonsik(二連式), Insoo changed Ejoseon(二條線) to Iljoseon(一條線) and Wonhwan made greatly at the beginning but it became small. And these section of iron rod changed circle type to square type. The most remarkable change of Ring type Bit was linking methods of the these components. At first, the type that had free ring(遊環) and Wonhwan hung on Ham-ouihwan(銜外環) belonged to Backjae and Gaya. But afterward 6th 2/4 century A.D. Backjae came to fast transformation as the type without free ring, then this type occupied the main current. Also Wonhwan made a feature of linking to Ham-ouihwan regardless of existing of free ring. On the other hand, Gaya utilized more free ring within a certain period of time. Wonhwan linking to Ham-ouihwan which apply the free ring more. Therefore Wonhwan that hung up Ham-ouihwan hung on free ring, transformed occasionally to extent of maximal capacity of free ring, finally adopted a new type that made free ring into Wonhwan. After that time, the type without free ring was diffused throughout Gaya, It showed Backjae advance into Gaya in the end.
