영문 초록

The correlation between the severity of parkinsonism and that of depression was evaluated in 33 chronic parkinsonian patients with three parkinsonism rating scales and the Hamilton Depression Scale. The results showed that 45.5% of patients had depression above the level of neurotic depression. The severity of depression and symptom pattern of parkinsonism group were similar to those of neurotic depression rather than to depressive type of manic-depressive psychosis. O f 33 cases, 29 cases(87.9^) had preciptiating factors for their depression. The severity of parkinsonism was not significantly correlated to that of depression. There was neither significant difference in the severity of depression between the left and right hemiparkinsonian patient groups nor in the severity of parkinsonism between depressed and nondepressed groups. These suggest that depression in parkinsonism is reactive rather than endogenous
